This guidance even states that school staff may want to use a child’s preferred name and pronouns at school, and birth-registered name and sex-based pronouns in front of parents. Parental deception, in other words, is not just accepted but encouraged."

It is beyond me why schools think teachers are qualified and competent to flat out lie to parents like this, and then expect something that is in 'public' within the school buildings to never leak out through other kids and parents in the outside world. You can't force a whole community to keep a secret and then expect the poor parents to pick up the pieces.

I think the forces at work to alienate gender questioning young people from their parents are particularly troubling. It’s clear that very influential moves to separate young people from their parents and to make parents into an enemy come from various different sources. This is really alarming from any safeguarding perspective.

Young people are going online to be told that their parents are against them. They go to school who behave in ways that reinforce that. Their peer groups reinforce that idea too. Parts of the medical establishment have been doing the same. It’s intentionally and systematically stripping out key protective factors in young people’s lives.

When that is going on, you can be pretty sure that there are some extremely dubious motives at work.
