For those working in the NHS in England, Wales and Northern Ireland: this document may be coming to your local Equality and Diversity Team soon. Applicable to both adult and children’s services. They have also provided a briefing document for trust boards. It has already reached a local union/ professional body steward ( CSP, Physiotherapy) who has highlighted it to their local members and is planning an ‘Allyship’ session.
Recommend reading the whole document in detail- but pages 22-25 are of particular interest, pillar 3 ‘We are non-heteronormative and non-cisnormative in everything we do’
( wonder which pilot NHS sites ‘reviewed their policy on admissions to single sex services, allowing service users to be admitted on gender presentation’… ).
Some of the pilot sites and those acknowledged have employers which have been members of the Stonewall champions scheme.
Can’t find any clear definition of what T, Q + are for reference. Seems very gender biased.

Thank you AppleTreeOwner.
But I just can't any more. Ever since I learnt that there are NHS trusts with actual policies working out how to place male born sex offenders on hospital wards with women and girls, I've had to ignore all their toxic utterances about inclusion.
It's just too distressing to look at NHS staff and wonder whether they're the ones literally facilitating predators to abuse women.

NHS 2022 staff survey ( a massive questionnaire sent to NHS staff) received this week.
Am I the only one who keeps getting fed up with sex being mixed with gender?
How is data meant to be accurately recorded for sex based themes when you can non longer record it?
Is this what ‘ non cisnormative’ looks like FFS
male/ female/ non binary/ self describe/ prefer not to say-
all combined into one. This means, just female data will not be able to be extracted as you will not know what sex non- binary actually are.

AppleTreeOwner I filled that in today. I chose to self describe. As a woman who knows both that sex is fixed, binary and immutable, and that data which allows self ID is worthless. I also waxed lyrical in the free text box about my employers membership of Stonewall's workplace equality index, and heavy promotion of training delivered by Mermaids. Got to take every chance, especially in the wholly-captured NHS.

What is the NHS Confederation?

Have been asked to attend an NHS conference. No way to register without pronouns - so bloody pissed off

This would really bother me too!

My DC recently signed up for a sport with a national governing body form to fill in. It asked re gender and parroted "sex assigned at birth" I used the only free text box I could to explain that surely sport was the place that only sex was relevant!

PomegranateOfPersephone · 05/10/2022 14:21

I think I would have to put prefer not to say in both boxes. Since I prefer not make any statement at all regarding gender identity.

if you can add your own pronouns put none/none. If you can only choose from a list ask them why they are discriminating against those with unique pronouns.

What is the NHS Confederation?

According to their website
‘The NHS Confederation is the membership organisation that brings together, supports and speaks for the whole healthcare system in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.’
I assume it is funded via a membership scheme - which health services can join. Can’t see how much it costs and no idea if it is something all organisations join or if some decide not to. Even so- the inclusion framework they have launched can be accessed and referenced by anyone ( including enthusiastic EDI leads…)

What is the NHS Confederation?

It's a quango which the different healthcare organisations are members of. NHS England is one. Northern Ireland has its own Health and Social Care system. I don't know what the arrangement is in Wales. Its Chief Executive is Matthew Taylor who used to be Tony Blair's chief political strategist. Almost the first words I noticed on its framework linked above was cis-normative. Ghastly.

There's a lot of blah blah on the website about what it does:

"Integration and partnership working are the driving force of healthcare. We promote collaboration and partnership working as the key to improving population health, delivering high-quality care and reducing health inequalities.

This is our central focus. We support integration across our membership, connecting different parts of the health and care system to share learning and develop solutions to shared challenges."

We support our members in three main ways:

"We represent organisations and sectors, to ensure local organisations and systems work in the best interests of service users, citizens and staff.

We connect the whole healthcare system, to boost system working and develop solutions to shared challenges.

We support leaders to develop and hone their leadership skills, equipping leaders with tools, ideas and insights and connecting them with a community of leaders."

So are we (the taxpayer) funding this bollox?
