There have been moments of absolute brilliance on these boards and I thought it would be nice to link or recount to some of our favourite funny or moving ones.

I loved watching the Ocado threads that went on for days and McCain’s response to TRAs on Twitter with ‘potato’.

The lurking thread when so many MNer’s admitted to lurking but not posting...a real insight moment to just how many people read good, critical and informative information on here 🌟

Was it that long ago !

No I got it wrong, just did a search, it was 2017. It just feels like it was eons ago. Second time in 2 days I have misremembered something, feeling like it was a long time in the past, when actually it wasn't too long ago. I can't decide whether this is a sign that this fight would always be a long and mentally exhausting one, with seemingly no end in sight; or whether it's because so much has happened and actually, the unruly women opposing their erasure have come a long way since we were laughed at back then.

That's still 5 years!

I'll also nominate this one for light relief (from the days when Liz Truss was A New Hope) : Women do have vaginas, Nick

BitossiBlues · 30/09/2022 09:16

Although, I've just looked at that Women Have Vagains, Nick thread again, and I know for a fact some posts have been edited. (or corrupted). Weird

Feminism and Women's Rights, which is what this board used to be called.

Oooh thank you. 🤦‍♀️

Seems obvious now you pointed it out!

Thank you for explaining what Bunbury is, and for the link.

The outcry when LangCleg got banned (yes, I am still pissed off about that, MNHQ).

I'm still pissed off about that too.

The JY threads with live tweets from goinglikeelsie.

And this

WarriorN · 30/09/2022 11:44

Barracker wrote this first on mn; I remember the thread and reading it and then it went poof.

And so went to medium. And went poof.

the way that so many real life groups of women have been formed from here.

I am very grateful to Justine for allowing and protecting this space. It has been vital.

TheScorpionandtheFrog · 30/09/2022 11:56

If you can't find a thread using the search tool you can sometimes find it on Google.

Man Friday was not just an inspirational group, but also the canary in the coalmine.

SphincterSaysWhat · 30/09/2022 11:58

I also came for the babies, stayed for the feminism and bought the bag...

Tallisker · 30/09/2022 12:30

Man Friday was what started me on my radicalised-by-Mumsnet journey. That and the employment of a transwoman st my workplace who within three months was vice chair of the LGBT society and championing the T at every turn.

I'd only met one transwoman previously who was quiet and unassuming and seemed so much happier after transition. Still quiet and unassuming though.

This other transwoman was tall and well built and I was surprised to be able to see stubble through heavy makeup. They were the only person in the entire building to wear a skirt.

I learned a heck of a lot in a very short space of time and am becoming more and more sure of myself in my resistance to this movement. I am planning to attend a meeting/protest next week and hope I will meet some of you.

Puddycatfan · 30/09/2022 12:39

I loved the JKR and Maya threads! Genius.

I also can't believe that Spartacus was all that time ago.....

EmpressaurusWitchDoesntBurn · 30/09/2022 12:43

Sandi Toksvig’s guest post from 2015, encouraging MNers to join the WEP. Unfortunately for her it came at the time when FWR were discussing a violent male, without a GRC, being moved to a women’s prison - and WEP had been seen tweeting approval.

I date my start up the hill from that thread.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 30/09/2022 13:31

Mumsnet meet ups at many events.

Igmum · 30/09/2022 15:45

Surely Spartacus was only yesterday?

It's a broad one but I just love the combination of being well-informed and being damn funny. I came to Mumsnet for AIBU many years ago and stayed for FWR. I don't often post, and when I do it's generally along the lines of 'thank you OP, very interesting' but I do read and I bend a few people's ears about this on the quiet. We really are the majority.
