Just that really - with the new law on Self-ID of gender going through parliament I am trying to understand what it’s implications are. A Finnish SexMatters would be ideal to find.

I'm not in Finland OP but had intended to write to a Finnish friend and ask her for an update on how things were going. The last time we discussed this in person there seemed to be a trans activist/gender critical gulf between older and younger, and country and city. (This might be a significant over-simplification on my part.)

For those looking in this thread, here's a report from YLE (sometimes referred to as Finland's BBC):

If passed in its current form, the updated law would mean self-declaration would be sufficient for gender confirmation. In the past, legal gender reassignment required a lengthy medical process. This amendment seeks to separate the legal side of transitioning from medical treatments.
...
The amendment still has to go through parliamentary scrutiny before it can enter into force, where it is likely to raise much debate and opposition across the political spectrum.

I wonder whether some of the gloss coming off Sanna Marin might have an impact.

A question for you OP. Do you see any conflict between this new law and growing skepticism within the medical establishment in Finland about putting "trans kids" on the "trans train"?
