Local Council voter registration survey

I completed my electoral registration update online and did the voluntary survey at the end.

There were questions both on sex and on gender. Both were optional. I indicated my sex (as I have one) but didn't answer the gender question as I don't have one.

This seems a reasonable compromise to me, but I'm intrigued to know what they do with this information.

Thoughts?

I wrote and asked as well couldn't see a reason for it. GDPR regs etc etc all require that all data held is held for a purpose.

Should say I have not had a reply. 5 weeks, 2 reminders, and still waiting!

Interesting. So if it's optional, then why do they need it? And if they need the information, then why is it optional? But still, it was an optional survey...
