Just shocked at having heard some of the things this famous kick-boxer has done and said about women. I had no idea who he was until DD showed me videos and I read a bit more about him.

Why is he allowed to spout such vile nonsense, IMO he shouldn’t even have an Instagram account.

He says women have to accept some of the blame for having put them self in a position to be raped. And that a woman going to a bar alone would be equivalent to parking your car where it can get stolen.

He moved to Romania because it’s ‘easier to rape women there’ and says although he wouldn’t he likes the freedom of being able to if he wanted.

Why is a sporting figure allowed to perform that openly hates women?

They are yet to find an ex girlfriend of his who will slag him off as by all accounts, he's a good, generous man in his personal life- wether he has traditional views on men/women or not.

This has zero to do with whether what he tells countless young men is true or not.

It does actually. Most people's point is he is a nasty minsogynst. But if the women he spends his time with say he is lovely then chances are he may have something to say and could be doing a couple things right.

I totally disagree that it doesn't unwrite the good - whatever the good is! How can it be acceptable to say here's a really positive health message guys, and by the way, if your girlfriend annoys you, you should give her a beating. How on earth is glorifying violent misogyny some kind of tongue in cheek joke?

Most boys have more sense than to take it seriously, it's true. My son brought up the subject with me and showed me a video of a man having a go at Tate and promoting respect for women. But there are still plenty of teenage boys who will buy into this - domestic violence and coercive control are massive problems, mainly for women and children and this encourages those who are impressionable or already that way inclined.

Because the video is CLEARLY not about hitting women that annoy him. It is very clearly a piece of dark humour. A similar thing you would hear from Jimmy Car or Franky Boyle. I think if you cannot see that, you are too blinded by your dislike for the man.

I agree with everything you said in the second paragraph. But it is the parents responsibility to educate their son well enough that he should see the bullshit/humour/ good advice in each thing he says. Perspicacity is a very important skill to teach young men and women.

There is a chance, yes. But whether someone can charm another person has no bearing on the truth of the things he says. Boris Johnson springs to mind.

Having a strategy for checking if a statement is true should not involve the claimant's personality - that's a recipe for disaster. If you think I'm wrong, there's a Nigerian prince I'd love you to meet.

My strategy for checking his truth is not based on his personality, although I do think his personalities obviously what makes him appealing.
My checking his truth comes from comparing what he says to what Jordan Peterson says, and then you realise a lot of it is just a over simplified, tongue and cheek version of what Jordan Peterson often says in his lectures and talks.
