I e-mailed him, I've emailed before and this is the first time he's bothered replying, and it was basically a shut down, no reply regarding the concerns I raised, I didn't link to evidence though.

I don't have a copy of what I wrote as it was via the 'contact us' bit on his website and there was no option to get a copy sent to me, he hasn't included my original correspondence with his reply. I feel as though he's giving me a telling off in his response - I said that I am concerned about her stance on Self ID and her lack of integrity and mentioned something from one of these threads about lying about the Turkey issue.

Should I reply and link to evidence that she does lack integrity and has lied in the past? Can anyone point me in the direction of any? Thanks :)

I'd point him in the direction of, um, reality. and news reports, and speaches and stuff like that.

Seems lika an asshole.

Floisme · 15/07/2022 20:14

I must admit I always sneakily admire an icy reply, even when I'm at the receiving end of it. But that's just me. No, I don't think I'd bother taking it any further. He has had his chance, and I would just reply equally politely that his refusal to engage with the concerns of his constituents might not enhance his cause come election day. Don't forget to add your very best wishes.

Sorry no constructive advice but agree what an asshole . What was the point in him responding if this was all he had to say

Haha, both Kemi Badenoch and Liz Truss have just effectively called out her lying on Self Id in the debate, so perhaps mention that?

cariadlet · 15/07/2022 20:24

I would go onto Twitter and search the hashtag #AnyButPenny

Some of the tweets back up the slogan with solid info.

Thanks @Floisme . Sadly I live in a safe seat - I think he's been MP for about 30 years and fits the demographic of white man in his 60s or maybe older.

Who is your MP @IloveHolby ? If you’re willing to say, there might be others here in your constituency who could add to the weight of evidence he clearly can’t be arsed to notice right under his nose.

achillestoes · 15/07/2022 20:34

I’d say that presents us with a difficulty, then, since the nub of the issue is that she has been lying.

Motorina · 15/07/2022 20:38

I'm watchign the leadership debate right now. Only one of them - Tugenhat - was prepared to say that Boris had lied. Badenoch fudged it was a 'sometimes'. The others? Honest as a new born babe.

I wouldn't bother to reply. He's shown you who he is. But I'd make your view clear at the ballot-box.

I assume his answer would have been much the same had you had the temerity to suggest a week or so back that Boris Johnson had been lying.

Abitofalark · 16/07/2022 00:01

Hah! brilliant, floisme: " ... I would just reply equally politely that his refusal to engage with the concerns of his constituents might not enhance his cause come election day. Don't forget to add your very best wishes."'

If you do want additional ammo, though, you could include that that champion of men self-identifying and self-declaring as women, Maria Millar, has confirmed Mordaunt's prior stance and action on this. And that other staunch advocate of the same policy of male self-identifying and self-declarating as women has been busy in the media this week promoting Mordaunnt's cause as next prime minister. I've afraid the game is up on this one.

CrotchetyQuaver · 16/07/2022 00:10

I thought Mordant was so wooden/robotic tonight it was like someone had cloned Teresa May. In my opinion she wouldn't make a good PM. Always concerning when they keep quiet, it's like that saying about keeping your mouth shut and being considered a fool is better than opening your mouth and confirming that you are, indeed, a fool.

Abitofalark · 16/07/2022 01:06

The other staunch one I meant to say is Caroline Nokes.

Abitofalark · 16/07/2022 01:12

Crotchety, Not quite as bad as May in the wooden stakes, perhaps but yes I do feel it is a bit of a replay of May and I have a dread feeling that they are going to make the same mistake instead of scrutinising her record - how the hell is she so popular with the party members and how the hell did May get picked as well? - and it would be a disaster if we ended up with her. I was not reassured by what I saw in the debate.
