Thing in the Times: “Men must stop telling us when to have babies”

There’s a really good thing in the Times by Alice Thompson today. I won’t quote it all but it is worth a read.

It pretty much says that it’s not much good having a load of male commentators telling women to have more children while the women are doing childcare, working and looking after the old people.

I hadn’t realised that women in Hungary with 3+ children don’t have to pay income tax. Perhaps if those women tend not to work (or not very much) then it isn’t all that valuable a benefit.

Thanks, I've not read it yet but here's the link

To me it shows that when women have control over their own bodies, lives and choices, more and more see that having babies isn't their only option in life.

The men are now trying to regain that control.

I think David Aaronovitch pointed out on Twitter it’s nearly always males who come up with these policies.

They just spent decades dismantling the system of housing, childcare, benefits, DLA, schools and pensions that enabled women to have children.
