Why are some people saying her book Trans is antisemitic?

Joyce addresses it herself. Jennifer Bilek- accused of antisemitism, has written for Tablet magazine (an excellent Jewish magazine, do read it) on the trans issue. JK Rowling has also been accused of antisemitism. You get the picture -this is a pure smear tactic and it devalues the accuser more than anything.

Well, at least one of them had to read it, at least enough to find the paragraph that has the names of two Jewish people in it. That happened remarkably quickly after the book was published, presumably because as I said, they were desperately combing through it looking for muck to rake.

The one who struck paydirt will then have posted a screenshot on social media to signal to all the other TRAs who yes, of course didn’t read it, to join the pile on.

That’s genuinely impressive since they’re hyperfixating on one paragraph out of 600 pages or so, which mentions three names of billionaires and doesn’t refer to any of them being Jewish, (and only two of them are.)

It would be great if my prediction actually was impressive but it's not. JKR was accused of anti-Semitism despite not mentioning anyone Jewish in the HP books. I knew they would make the accusation when I saw George Soros mentioned, I don't know which of the other two are Jewish. As a PP said its like watching toddlers smear shit on a wall.

My copy of the book is only about 300 pages long, have I only got half a copy?

What stuns me is the way that otherwise intelligent people use such ad hominem attacks without ever engaging with the substance of the issue. Can they not see just how weak the TRA case is? They are not campaigning for equality and rights, which they already have in law and which no one seriously disputes. They are pushing aside other disadvantaged groups and medically sterilising vulnerable children.

Interestingly, in a whole book full of factual references, that was the only thing her attackers could come up with. IIRC she referred to the known billionaires who had funded trans ideology and some of them happened to be Jewish — which she didn't mention, possibly. didn't even know. They couldn't criticise her research or conclusions, so they accused her of anti-Semitism instead. It was desperate.

My (limited) understanding of the wider movement is that it literally rejects the concepts of truth and reality other than -

(1) The individuals own truth (eg, I am a TW, therefore I am a woman)

(2) The reality of power, privilege and oppression, a reality in which trans people are relatively underprivileged compared to non-trans, etc.

In other words if you're not talking about oppression or your own truth (which may be demonstrably false) then your words have no meaning.

#MeToo is really antisemitic because Harvey Weinstein and Jeffrey Epstein are/were Jewish.

summerpuddings This is a TRA smear campaign. "In her book, Joyce cites three billionaires, two of whom are Jewish, who have funded various transactivist activities. This apparently is all that is needed for trans activists to declare that Joyce is promoting “a global Big Pharma conspiracy funded by Jewish billionaires”.

Furthermore as also mentioned in the article at the link "She mentions two billionaires. She [Joyce] doesn't accuse them of shadowy machinations or obvious tropes. Doesn't mention their ethnicity. If that's antisemitic, is it at all possible to criticise George Soros?"

To be perfectly clear, summerpuddings, it was the TRAs out to smear Joyce that mention that two of the billionaires cited are Jewish.

Anti-Semitism allegations were also extended to others who tweeted in support of the book, including David Baddiel, author of Jews Don’t Count, a book about how people ignore the history of anti-Semitism, and Times Columnist David Aaronovitch.

I see a number of people are accusing me of antisemitism. This is profoundly untrue, hurtful and damaging. I will give people who have tweeted such accusations 48 hours to delete their tweets. If this isn't done I will consider legal action.
