Complaint To Charity Commission About Stonewall

Surely the words of Nancy Kelly (about lesbians should be open to dating trans women) and Kirrin Medcalf (no such things as male and female bodies) prove pretty conclusively that Stonewall is not even trying to represent the rights of the LGB, and doesn't even understand what same sex attraction is?

Surely the Charity Commission should by now have received complaints and should be investigating and should easily be able to determine that Stonewall is working against not for the LGB? The LGB and the TQ+ cannot be represented by the same group and that therefore Stonewall needs to pick a side or disband entirely.

Is anyone aware of whether serious evidence based complaints have been made to the CC re: Stonewall?

Is the Charity Commission a member of Stonewall's Diversity Champions scheme? It sounds daft asking (due to conflict of interest), but Ofcom was.

As I posted I did a quick google and there was a FOI request which suggest the CC had paid no money to Stonewall in 2019 / 2020 and was not and had no plans to join an scheme.

I would be very surprised if the CC hasn't received many complaints about Stonewall.

Can't imagine anything happening about it though, Stonewall seem to have close "friends" everywhere.

Perhaps the first thing to do is a FOI request re: complaints about Stonewall? I can't help thinking that I am not the best person to do an FOI request or complain to the CC about Stonewall.... but if no-one has done so already then I am morally obliged to!

You can use the site What do they know for FOIs very useful. Draft in word then copy and paste. They send you reminders and have good advice. The FOI is then public. You may know this but letting lurkers know too.

I've often wondered about this too, ever since I saw they have an aim to remove sex-based rights - charity registration forbids any charity from campaigning to remove the rights of others. And even more so when I heard about them trying to get the LGB Alliance's charitable status revoked.

It seems you have to approach any charity first with your complaint before the Commission will get involved (fair enough, I think).

Stonewall really are a total menace.

Just for the record, I found a FOI that says 'The Commission has not paid Stonewall any money over the period of time contained within your request.'

That time period was 2015-2021.

the Charity Commission response to the FOI request is interesting:

"The Charity Commission has not paid Stonewall any funds 2015-2021. Despite that, its diversity and inclusion policy is a gender identity policy, using the word gender & sexuality, where the Charity Commission should use sex and sexual orientation."

Good for them.

ArabellaScott · 27/09/2022 12:02

That is interesting, but it's not the CC response, it's a comment, to clarify!

WearyLady · 27/09/2022 12:06

Oops, it looks like I may have got the wrong end of the stick. It looks like the comment I ascribed to the charity commission was actually posted by somebody else. Apologies, Please ignore me.
