Kay Burley getting it in the neck on twitter

I looked but couldn't see this elsewhere. So Stephanie Davies-Arai, of Transgender Trend was recently on Kay's show talking about gender clinics.

Of course the usual suspects had a normal one and tantrums ensued. Debating our lives, we're in danger, hyperbolic blah blah blah.

One (I'm not naming names in case it gets wiped), had a particular moan, Kay said come on my show let's have a debate then, after which they backed right off. Because they wanted air time to themselves, no debate, what a surprise.

The main gripe seems to be that Stephanie had her say uninterrupted, why can't they?

Excuse me, they've had their uninterrupted say ALL the fecking time!! A trans cyclist recently had an entire ITV puff piece dedicated to their view and how unfair it all was. Were they saying why isn't a woman on to give an opposing view? No they bloody well weren't!

Decisions made, left right and centre, leaving women and their concerns out of the conversation, any TRAs online saying maybe we should hear from these women as well? Nope!

Now all of a sudden they're interested in an equal say at the table, when it suits them! Of course it can't be any old representative, has to be of their choosing. I did see Kay quote tweet someone by name although that person has me blocked despite never interacting, as I imagine they have for a lot of people 😉

I really don't want to see Kay buckle to their demands, but if she does, please let it be a hyperbolic rage monster who will end up making an arse of themselves on the telly!

I read some of that - they were vile. Calling TT fascist, guilty of genocide, personal attacks. Totally deranged.
Hopefully people actually look at the haven of research, sanity and safeguarding children that is the TT website. It just shows how off the scale in terms of threats and intimidation these people are.

EmbarrassingHadrosaurus · 22/06/2022 15:24

Brings me back to Woman's Hour when TRAs affected to be so intimidated that they wouldn't partake in a live discussion because of fears for their safety. The various participants were in geographically different studios and included terrifying figures such as professors of human rights and law.

Recorded pieces only. 2018? Alex Sharpe likened "exclusive feminism" to "bubonic plague," iirc. NB: Alex Sharpe is, of course, a barrister with Garden Court Chambers for those of you following along with Allison Bailey's tribunal.

I know EmbarrassingHadrosaurus There's a reason they will never be interviewed - embedded incoherence, contradictory, full of fantasy, flat earthism and the rest. Where a simple no thank you would do. Or even the Mumsnet complete sentence - No.
Instead people have to endure endless vitriol, aggression, hyperbole, toddler tantrums and personal attacks. 😑

Equality of treatment (in fact even just any lack of overt, heavy favourable bias) is evidence of unacceptable prejudice in this political lobby's eyes resulting in howls of rage.

It needs to be treated with the amused ignoring that it deserves.

KittenKong · 22/06/2022 17:30

Oh dear. Wheels are falling off this clown car at last.

disingenuousbanana · 22/06/2022 17:37

That person only wants to debate in written essay form anyway so not even sure why or how it was suggested.

achillestoes · 22/06/2022 17:41

Twin imperatives: never actually discussing your arguments in public, and loudly insisting you are being prevented from discussing your arguments in public.

Thinking about it, if you made a TV drama about Garden Court Chambers, it would be dismissed as implausibly fantastical.

When the judge summarised evidence that had been given by a witness, Vallejo rebuked in front of the jury that it was 'absolute rubbish'.

Criminal barrister Vallejo also refused to engage with the prosecution despite being ordered to.

She was then warned by the judge about her conduct, adding that they did not want to delay or distract from the trial.

But the hearing was told Vallejo retorted: 'Well, that's exactly what you're doing.'

When the judge asked her to clarify some evidence, she chided that she had 'explained it already' before Vallejo made a joke and called her the 'Learned Judge' - instead of 'your Honour.'

I have to say that the ones that I've seen to date from GCC fair fancy themselves, disdain the people to whom they're speaking, and do adopt a cavalier attitude when it comes to collaborating with others. They're also largely on holiday, reading emails on a Friday, or thinking about their Christmas shopping.

I confess to being bemused when Andrew Hochhauser dragged in the fact that Michelle Brewer (?) had driven into a bin during one crucial conversation. He did that as proof of something other other but it just added to the general clown car ambience given off by Garden Court Chambers in this tribunal.

The person in question in the OP has been invited to debate several times on different platforms and always refuses.

They did do a call in on LBC I think with Kathleen Stock, but all they did was go on and on about an 'extremist' letter that Kathleen had signed. Kathleen was trying to set out her stance on the actual call in but just kept being interrupted over and over by this person going back to 'the letter'. It was cringe.
