Can anyone explain why a recent thread was deleted? It was about a London firm and the OP had submitted some questions to them regarding single sex spaces etc. I tried to find it but it's disappeared unfortunately.

Unfortunately, the FWR board is heavily moderated much more so than the rest of the site. We are the naughty corner and get reprimanded for using perfectly logical and truthful words and phrases.

It sometimes happens in waves, when an onslaught of bad faith posters pile in to disrupt discussion or report everything, usually as a result of some sort of dog whistle from twitter, or when there has been a news story.

I've said it before, but it still shocks me that on a women's rights boards, on a website mainly frequented by women and aimed at women, we cannot openly discuss women's rights and women's issues without being heavily policed and deleted. Women have been permanently banned from this site for saying truthful things that everybody knows. It's quite eye opening.

I was following a thread earlier about surrogacy and that seems to have disappeared ....

Not in the spirit of the site, apparently. I wish deleted threads still showed up in the list of Threads I'm On, as then I would know they'd gone, and why. I only found this one by going through my browser history.

I did wonder if that surrogacy thread would get deleted. Not keen on us talking about 'intended parents'. We can talk about surrogacy and about the women who are surrogates, but we're not allowed to talk about the people who exploit them.

I wish MN would delete those threads where the only comment is 'There is a lot of transphobia on this site', and tell them to say what exactly is transphobic or delete because it's not in the spirit of MN.

spongedog · 11/06/2022 18:04

thank you to the posters for the archive links. And a big thank you to @CraggyIslandTouristBoard for the excellently worded letter. I was reading it, marked it to come back to and gone.

Hope Mumsnet can see that their issue prompted your safety response.

CraggyIslandTouristBoard · 11/06/2022 18:29

I've still not heard back from MN 🙄but I guess maybe they have fewer people working over the weekend looking at these things. I have specifically asked for the thread to be reinstated.

If the original thread doesn't go back up and you'd like a copy of what I sent to my firm (or if anyone would like my original version which contains hyperlinks to various supporting evi, eg YouGov poll which says that the overwhelming majority of people do not think male bodied people should be allowed in women's toilets) then you're welcome to PM me for them.

I wish MN would delete those threads where the only comment is 'There is a lot of transphobia on this site', and tell them to say what exactly is transphobic or delete because it's not in the spirit of MN.

It would be helpful.

However, MN is a business and, iirc, on previous occasions they've stated that a disproportionate amount of their moderation effort is expended on FWR.

CraggyIslandTouristBoard · 11/06/2022 18:35

And just to reiterate, according to MN it wasn't pulled due to any alleged transphobia, but because they found I had 2 MN accounts (I set up a new one after the latest data breach - I didn't want to risk MN leaking my original account details when we all know what happens to people who dare to express GC views...). I'm hoping now I've explained this they will reinstate the thread but that's TBC.

Deleted thread?

I don't blame you at all and really hope they are understanding under the circumstances I set up an account specifically for MN a couple of years ago. I don't use it for anything else.

Thanks to whoever posted that archive link. Terrific work Craggy, can’t wait to hear what happens next.

CraggyIslandTouristBoard · 20/06/2022 22:55

Hello all, I've started a new thread with a (not desperately exciting) update.

Sorry 2nd link broken. Try this one

Thank you very much. That letter lays everything more clearly than anything I have seen before about the law and women’s single sex spaces.

Useranon1 · 21/06/2022 11:47

@CraggyIslandTouristBoard can you link?

Did your old thread never get reinstated?
