6 weeks paid leave and up to 12 months unpaid.

I've had a quick google and can't find policies on period or menopause allowances, nor exceptional leave for cancer or mental health treatments etc. Am sure they probably exist though 🤔

OP posts:

Yes, I am sure they must exist too 🧐

“Gender affirmation leave” OMFG

Moodycow78 · 06/06/2022 08:40

So you don't actually need to have any surgery to have this leave, you could take 6 weeks off to go clothes shopping and book a hairdressers appointment, tempting actually.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 06/06/2022 09:29

When I see policies like this I always hope that their policies for those with cancer, heart conditions, critical illnesses are as generous. Not to mention the needs of carers. I do hope so Confused

Absolutely!

What a farce LOL

Brilliant news for all the working non binary people ... the ones that normally do all the crap jobs... like having kids. 6 weeks off and go back as Trans men.... win win

FemaleAndLearning · 06/06/2022 13:38

So could you get 6 weeks paid leave to transition to non binary? What would that entail?

PonyPatter44 · 06/06/2022 18:36

Six weeks off on full pay, and then I just prance back in and announce I'm NB, or just genderqueer?! Sign. Me. Up.

This! Also, does it apply to the cleaners etc.?

Philip Bunce would be in heaven - he’d never have to turn up for work!

This would be enough be enough to get me to change bank. If they’re spending money on this sort of stuff I wouldn’t trust them to look after mine.

ControversialOpening · 06/06/2022 19:42

Oops … he/she/they. Sorry.

TotalRhubarb · 06/06/2022 19:45

I’d be interested to know how generous their mat leave package is.

Also, how much compassionate leave do they allow for miscarriage?

What are the provisions for women struggling with menopause?

Do women needing IVF get paid time off for appointments and treatment? What about the two week wait after embryo transfer - can they have that off?

I presume it’s a ‘yes’ to all the above, given they’re an enlightened and compassionate employer, yes?

KittenKong · 06/06/2022 20:44

I’m not the most feminine type of woman. Would I get leave so that I could get my hair and nails done, go shopping for heels and skirts, etc etc etc. mum would be so proud of me.

FunnyTalks · 07/06/2022 16:46

Gender affirmation is exhausting and expensive and I'm not even especially high maintenance compared to some. I don't have a gender ID but I've been subject to the the pressure gender expectations and stereotypes place upon my sex for approx 30 years. I shave /wax. Have difficult hair that I attempt to control. Wear make up sometimes. Battle to find clothes that flatter my body. All because of the gender expectations society places upon my sex. It runs so deep I'm not entirely sure why I do what I do and who I'm doing it for. I'd love for this expenditure of both time, money and effort to be formally recognised somehow. Would my sex (female) preclude me from taking this option if I were an employee?

Hadalifeonce · 07/06/2022 16:53

FunnyTalksit just seems to day gender affirmation, so if a female wants 6 weeks paid leave to affirm her femininity, conditions depending, can't see this as a problem 😉

KittenKong · 07/06/2022 16:57

but are we talking 1950s housewife or 1500s goode wiffe?

Nullification surgery.

I originally thought that there's nothing to be done for non-binary, but the medical industry have invented this cosmetic surgery.
