'the Bill carries a high risk of becoming another piece of bad law, with unintended consequences which will be most damaging to women and to young people at their most vulnerable.'

Thanks for posting.

That's a good letter. I'm just wondering if there will be grounds for a judicial review of the law if it goes through in its current form🤞

TheBiologyStupid · 30/05/2022 20:39

A great letter. I'm presuming that the Scottish government hasn't responded to the damning result of the Gender Recognition Reform consultation?

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 30/05/2022 20:41

That is an excellent letter. It will, of course, be ignored. But when this all blows up in the government's face, it is another piece of the paper trail to show that they were repeatedly warned about the issues.

Meeting tomorrow at 9.30 of women's groups with the ScotGov to discuss reforms:

And this page is where the current consultation process is at:

www.parliament.scot/bills-and-laws/bills/gender-recognition-reform-scotland-bill/stage-1

(we've done the 'try to educate the nasty women' bit, now moving on past the 'ignore the nasty women', and approaching 'threaten and smear the nasty women')

Thank you for links.

Isn't it all too late now though?

TheBiologyStupid · 30/05/2022 22:06

I don't suppose that the committee hearing is online?

Depends how cynical you are, maybe?

the Bill is at stage 1.

Still got a way to go to go through parliament, much scope for revision and voting. It has to be examined, possibly amended, and voted on.

It's also interesting to see what other groups they are listening to in that session.

The speaker on trans gender inmates in prison is so eloquent

MagnoliaTaint · 31/05/2022 10:34

They are really fantastic speakers, I'm so pleased to have these women (and man) speaking on behalf of women's rights. Knowledgeable, compassionate, thoughtful and intelligent.

That's an excellent letter, and a useful summary of what has gone on, really quite shocking

SenoraAveiro · 31/05/2022 10:46

Oh fuck off with your talk of cis, whoever you are 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
