Following on the Telegraph's investigation yesterday that revealed the civil service recognise over 100 genders, today's article shows the police recognise 67. Way to go police persons - gotta catch up on that pesky civil service.

Seven forces allow criminal suspects to be recorded as non-binary and two others allow suspects to describe their gender as "unknown and unspecified".

Lisa Townsend, the police and crime commissioner for Surrey criticsed "the ludicrous" approach as it "corrupts data" and puts the potential criminal before the victim. "Accurate reporting and data is so important"she said. "We can't police by anecdote".

Indeed.

Surely this just goes to show how totally meaningless this 'gender' concept is, and they should just record sex and be done with it.

If you can’t tell someone’s gender by looking at them (I’m sure I’ve not heard of half the ones - and there are new ones every day) what’s the point of asking?

Yes. I think in future court cases GC claimants should use this to demonstrate the frivolous, narcissistic nature of much of it.

TBF, I would, and do, use either "unknown" or "unspecified" if asked my gender.
My sex is female, and I am a woman. I have no gender.

Imagine how insulted and offended you'd be if you were one of the additional 33 genders and the police didn't recognise you.

It’s easier to concentrate on genderwoo than actually do something about child protection

To be fair I'd be saying ' gender unknown and unspecified ' if asked my gender by the police.

Would much rather they asked me my sex though..

Absolutely

funnily enough we were talking about genders 5 minutes ago…we were only talking about 72 though, so we are obviously behind the times
