Hi Everyone, just wondering if anyone can recommend a puberty/sex education book, please? Something suitable for a 7 year old girl that's factual and doesn't involve any gender/changing sex nonsense? I think it's time to get into it but I want to do it in an ordered, factually correct and fully understandable way so a book could help but so many of them appear unicorny and gendery and I definitely don't want that.

Has anyone come across anything that could be useful?

I got Harris and Emberley's Lets Talk about Sex for my son. The latest edition is 2014 but I'll have got an earlier ed. it was informative without pushing gender woo

Looking at the chapters it has " girl or boy female or male" and one on homosexual or heterosexual

I think the newer editions do have some gender woo, but the older ones are good.

Super, thanks. Who would have thought that this would turn into such a minefield?

Thanks OP. I would be interested in this too.
School are using Big Talk Education and I’m not happy with the gender stuff they are including.

DD and her friends all have Girls Only. We got it off Amazon. She’s 11 now and I’ve seen her dipping into it a few times.

What’s Happening To Me? by Susan Meredith. There’s a girl’s edition and a boy’s edition, which are unfortunately pink and blue, but the contents are good.

Anita Naik's "The Girls Guide to Growing Up" and the Phil Wilkinson equivalent for boys. Very straightforward and minimal stuff on types of anxieties/problems that arise in puberty, which was important to me (ie just says that you may feel anxious/embarrassed by your changing body, with a few examples). Very important that the content does not attempt to deal with subjects that are too old for her.

Milli Hill's period book is good. The Usborne ones are good but buy second hand to get earlier editions. I think one version says something like breasts are for men to look at or something strange.
The Girl Guide by Marawa Ibrahim is really good. You can dip in to read up on things like discharge, spots, hair and lots more. Very body positive too.
