www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-10806353/JULIE-BINDEL-explains-female-students-bullied-hearing-feminists.html

My heart aches for this brave woman.

"I’d seen social media posts organising a protest and knew I’d have to go on my own. Stringent security measures imposed by the university meant that only students and staff could be present."

No mummy, doggy and support friend for her.

Thanks for posting the link OP.

God, it's so WEARING. I'm just heartsick of the back-to-front, Humpty Dumpty funhouse mirror lies and DARVO, so how women like Julie Bindel and Allison Bailey and Maya, facing it all on the frontline feel I can only imagine. They are fighting for the very young women who despise and deride them. That takes so much courage.

loislovesstewie · 12/05/2022 14:18

Well fellow women, that is just what we do, isn't it? We get on with things while others are shouting and behaving like immature idiots.

Happityhap · 12/05/2022 14:50

If that's how JB felt, in that environment, how must young female students feel if they are not woke?

DomesticatedZombie · 12/05/2022 15:41

'One of the first campaigns I was involved in was to criminalise rape within marriage, which only became illegal in 1992'

What do all these shouty idiots think about this? They have no clue, do they? They have no idea how recently women won these rights - how precarious our protections are, nor the consequences of their boorish, brutish actions. Shame on them.

I've attended demos on all sorts of issues - not once in my life did I ever direct anything at an individual. That's not protest, it's just plain common or garden harassment.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 12/05/2022 16:28

It's so sad that these young women have been gaslit into this upside down world where they are now unable / unwilling to discuss and debate. I absolutely understand their levels of fear - the consequences for them for speaking any kind of truth is immense. Like Julie, we need to hold our criticism for the adult leaders in universities who have allowed the bullies to dominate - as Raquel Rosairo Sanchez's case so clearly demonstrated.

In my case, terrified that I’ll be found out, lose all my friends and be bullied off campus. I’ve had nightmares about this shit.

So I keep schtum. There are no other contentious issues that I feel like this about, I’m usually very candid!

I’d love to be as brave as people like JB- I’m hoping it will come with age.

Hopefully what's happening regarding abortion rights in the USA will shock the handmaidens over there.
When their best mate gets raped and can't get an abortion, and they try to organise politically and look to the transwomen they have supported so faithfully.
And the transwomen explain to them that abortion isn't a women's issue, since it doesn't affect all women, only the privileged cis ones. And, actually, our priority is to get the legislation changed so that it also prevents men from having abortions too, since the current legislation is soooo transeclusive...

That's awful TheMarzipanDildo I wonder how many other women are desperately having to hide their instincts, wishes for safety and privacy in the face of this extreme bullying.

LeniGray · 12/05/2022 17:53

I really feel for her, I don’t blame her for giving up on British universities, they’re an embarrassment. I have thought I would like to go back to studying, at some point, to get a degree…. but I couldn’t cope with the thought police tbh. I’d have to do some sort of distance learning programme. I very much hope the tide is turning, and she gets the recognition she deserves. She’s a true fighter for women and girls, it’s a sorry state of affairs 😔

BraveBananaBadge · 12/05/2022 18:02

This is so upsetting it's hard to know where to start. Good to be told we want to mass murder all the world's sex workers as well as anyone trans, isn't it. These protesters really have nothing between their ears, do they?

So sorry this happened to Julie. She's worth 100 of any one of them.

nepeta · 12/05/2022 20:02

The newest dogma in university feminism too often appears to be centered on things which benefit the male sex more than the female sex.

Trans women benefit from competing with women in sports, trans men don't benefit from competing with men in sports.

As the 'customers' in prostitution are almost entirely male people Bindel being accused for whorephobia or whatever benefits those men who want to buy sex whatever the effect of legalisation and decriminalisation might be on the people who work selling sexual services (the vast majority of those are female).

Inclusive language is almost never applied to anything where saying 'men' for 'male-bodied people' is actually not inclusive, but it is diligently applied to all cases where saying 'women' for 'female-bodied people' might leave a small handful of individuals not included.

Staffy1 · 12/05/2022 20:06

Disgusting that some staff joined in with the nasty behaviour.

Very common now in humanities departments.

I think when you look at many of the women on the receiving end of University sanctioned bullying (Kathleen Stock, Rosa Freedman, Raquel Rosairo Sanchez etc) you'll find many toxic staff leading the intimidation.
Back in 2018 the Times exposed a lecturer at Goldsmiths, Natasha Kennedy, for orchestrating a smear campaign against academics who dared to speak about facts and reality. I don't know if the university took any action against them. My guess is not.
Of course, Goldsmiths runs PGCE teacher training courses - and now we're surprised that we have a generation of young teachers dismissive of the rights of women.

If you look at the stuff that happened at Evergreen in the US, there was faculty involved with there as well. And at the university I attended in Canada I know there have been instances of faculty driving out staff for their views on this by threatening the board that they would expose the university in the media.

StageRage · 12/05/2022 21:00

It’s just so shocking and horrible.

JB is always so decent. I remember a couple of years ago she did a radio interview with the editor of Diva mag, I think, and they had wildly opposing views and I think Diva Ed slagged her off afterwards. But then Diva Ed was the target of some class-based abuse, and straight away JB challenged it and said it was unacceptable.

KatVonlabonk · 20/06/2022 08:03

York University are raising the flag for pride month, but the (seemingly male) students are still raging that a lesbian was allowed to speak on campus.

Oh and isn't it libellous to suggest Julie Bindle 'shared students details online'

They chat such sh*t

KatVonlabonk · 20/06/2022 08:09

Law & Order, the Social Justice version covers this. It's a bit too close to the coming reality for my taste.
