I think it is very useful to to put the more outrageous of the Guardian articles here which they will wish they had never printed at some point (hopefully soon) just in case they start deleting their history. Anyone know how get/keep the archived versions?

Let's start with "Hannah" - the 20 year old who plays as "Mother" guiding children in Roblox - a game for 6 year olds.

Fucking hell. Talk about ‘in plain sight’.

5oclockhero · 12/05/2022 00:39

"I spoke to almost 30 trans gamers, aged 13 to 30, for this article and, while every story was different, each emphasised the important role that games played in helping them to come to terms with their real-world selves."

Or - just maybe - the fact that they were immersed in fantasy worlds where they could design their own appearance (and sex) meant they became confused about the nature of reality.

"Meanwhile, Hannah has taken on a mentoring role in her Discord groups, describing herself as a “mother” to her community. “So many of them struggle coming out, and I know what that’s like – how it feels to be scared,” she says. She advises them to explore their options early, opening up to parents if they will be accepting, in order to save years of potential suffering. She hopes younger players might learn from her own mistakes."

“It’s a free game, you download it in 30 seconds and you’re playing against six-year-olds,” one 15-year-old trans player said. “You can’t get mad at that.”

Really?!!! Fucking hell.

Just looked - it's already archived on Internet Archive Wayback Machine [ web.archive.org/ ]

amp.theguardian.com/world/2021/jul/28/anti-trans-video-los-angeles-protest-wi-spa

I give you their disgusting Wi Spa coverage. No apology was forthcoming when the man was arrested having been known to them as a previous sex offender.

Here's another, Dining across the divide

It came to mind because right now there is a thread about someone being denied third place in a run by a transwoman and this person does parkruns.

It might have made the other diner sympathetic. It did the opposite for me, it's the article which really made me sit up and notice the issue and thought stuff that 'be Kind nonsense'.

Peregrina · 12/05/2022 09:22

Did the Guardian print the follow up in the James Shupe case - where he goes back to being a man? I suspect not.

PrelateChuckles · 12/05/2022 09:31

Hannah is still waiting for the operations that will make her feel as authentic as she does in her Roblox avatar.

So women who haven't got a specific type of body aren't "authentic", according to Hannah. Got it.

DomesticatedZombie · 12/05/2022 09:43

I don't know, it's going to take some time to archive the whole fucking paper.

I don't know if it can roll back from this, tbh, without major changes.

They gave space for Hannah Mouncey to write a whole load of articles:

https://www.theguardian.com/profile/hannah-mouncey

Mouncey was left out of the Australian women’s handball team because Mouncey’s teammates felt uncomfortable with Mouncey in there. Handball Australia apologised to Mouncey for not forcing those women to accept Mouncey in the changing rooms.

I’m sure those women, when they’re not beholden to Handball Australia for selection will tell their full side of the story eventually.

NotBadConsidering · 12/05/2022 09:57

Of course all the times they’ve given Peter Tatchell column inches:

https://www.theguardian.com/profile/petertatchell

despite it being that publication to which he wrote a letter stating:

“The positive nature of some child-adult sexual relationships is not confined to non-Western cultures. Several of my friends - gay and straight, male and female - had sex with adults from the ages of nine to 13. None feel they were abused. All say it was their conscious choice and gave them great joy.
While it may be impossible to condone paedophilia, it is time society acknowledged the truth that not all sex involving children is unwanted, abusive and harmful.”

Let’s see how long Tatchell’s lionisation lasts into the future…

Beefcurtains79 · 12/05/2022 10:02

Peter will be on soon to get this thread closed down, he gets super touchy when being reminded of his nonce defending.

www.theguardian.com/society/2020/jun/15/trans-transgender-children-gender-family-project

Here we go. About trans children in the US, by Katelyn Burns. I always prefer to share articles written uncritically from the pro gender ideology view point. Then nobody has to feel bad about reading them.

The material is all there, corroborating the childhood accounts of many older transexuals. The lives of these children are marked by peer on peer bullying, adults with a sexist adherence to gender stereotypes, homophobia, family relationship problems etc.

The author does not seem to see the sexist, homophobic, turbulent environmental conditions these children are raised in and only sees them as trans, making the child the problem to be fixed instead.

I would suggest that it was the school's responsibility to stop the bullying; the parents' responsibility to accept their child as gender non conforming or gay; and the parents' responsibility to care for their child through the trauma of divorce.

But what do I know? I'm just some kind of bigot who thinks it's normal to be homosexual and desirable to grow into adulthood with a fully functioning body.

IvyTwines · 12/05/2022 12:45

The piece in this week's Private Eye on the continuing gender identity 'civil wars' at the Guardian, 'Another Viner Mess', has a P.S. saying that the Guardian's new guidelines 'strongly encourage staff to regularly delete historic and other posts...we recommend the Tweetdelete service to do this'.

Sounds like they can see the tide's turning. Sadly, in the digital age, an Orwellian erasing or doctoring of your history is much quicker and easier than when we had 'dead tree' archives.

Franca123 · 12/05/2022 12:57

Thanks for that @IvyTwines I'll see if I can get a copy of private eye later.

IvyTwines · 12/05/2022 13:33

@Franca123 here's the full article, taken from Twitter yesterday.

(Though having posted it, I think the image is too small to read, sorry! It's on ripxnutmeg's Twitter though - well worth looking up!)

Aimee Challenor: ‘Yes, I’m trans, but I’m a Green politician and proud of it’

@IvyTwines Brilliant article! Really enjoyed that.

CeratopsofthePharoahs · 12/05/2022 16:24

Don't forget this victim blamey piece about the Cologne attacks
It pretty much ends with "Well what do you expect if you have an expensive smartphone?"

I see shit like this and think of poor Breck Bednar and his mum. Does this newspaper have editors?
