From the twitter of Extinction Rebellion Bristol:

"Climate justice = trans rights!
Trans Exclusionary Radical Feminists (TERFs) are not welcome in our city. Up for standing against them? "

Followed by a call to demonstrate against these uppity women having views.

And I agree. They are total dickheads who damage an important cause with their dick-headed actions.

Whilst XR might have misogyny and homophobia problems, there real forte' is racism. And the organisation has made it absolutely clear that it really is one that appeals to the white middle class, and no-one else is welcome;

Does Extinction Rebellion have a race problem?

This really shouldn't be a shock though. Transactivism makes considerable efforts to project itself as a male white middle-class cause with an emphasis on promoting homophobia and misogyny with regular racist outbursts. XR projects itself as...a predominantly male white middle-class organisation. So there's going to be synergy on occasions and XRBristol is one typical example.

I have no time for XR. I saw a tweet last night that seemed to suggest some of them were trying to climb up the front of the Wills building. I hope the police intervened as they would if any other protestors illegally started scaling a prominent landmark. I also saw some people pointing out that the loathsome Laurence Fox was speaking at a meeting on university premises last night, but guess which meeting was the one identified publicly as hateful and the one to picket.

Has quite a square jaw.

Uses they/them pronouns now. Claimed to marry partner during an XR protest on Westminster Bridge. I doubt very much whether it was legally possibly to tie the knot there and then. Comes from an extremely well-heeled titled family.

I saw this earlier. How fucking dare 'they' say who is welcome in our city. I've lived in Bristol for 50 years. They don't speak for me. I hope everyone who attended tonight's meeting is safe.

Exactly.
I attended the WPUK meeting last night.
I have also attended XR meeting/maybe meetings (a while ago) around Bristol.
I stopped as they were so disorganised and wishy washy (and it was suggested we do Jazz hands if we agreed with the speaker 🤮).
Thankfully the protestors were not very numerous (and I don't think even understood what they were protesting), although a bit noisy and twattish.
I did feel a bit intimidated going in, but coming out I felt empowered and they look ridiculous.
Attend a WPUK meeting when they are local to you, if you can.

I often wonder, with these 'protests', how many nice, kind, gentle-minded allies who've been swayed by pastel flags and glitter go along to shout at the nasty women, and are a bit confused by what they find. Do they ever find themselves at an event about helping pregnant abuse and dv victims and think 'hold on'?.

Has quite a square jaw.

They is quite open about being trans. They is one of half of the couple of activists who got married on Westminster Bridge, during a protest, causing chaos.

SamphirethePogoingStickerist · 04/05/2022 14:06

Oops! Missed Gaspode's post 😶

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 04/05/2022 14:23

Trans nonbinary. In a Ted Talk recorded last year Omond talks about having a double mastectomy.

ChateauMargaux · 04/05/2022 14:25

They have blocked responses... they fight for their right to demonstrate ... and for that I am grateful... they do not get to decide who can and cannot exercise that right!

She was an English green and tried to become leader. Then apparently flounced to Scotland, but possibly to avoid being chucked out for her floaters comment about women who defend womens rights.

Her family owns a grouse moor in Scotland I shouldn't wonder 😉

Hondelay · 05/05/2022 11:04

Bloody hell, no wonder there's a climate crisis, with the amount of hot air and shit-fartery this lot generate on any given day.

oldstudentmum · 05/05/2022 11:12

Same here utter TWUNTS!

Rosiesmydog · 05/05/2022 11:57

A fabulous hashtag has come out of this demonstration, started by an angry young lady with a megaphone telling the demonstrators that she’s not understood by her parents because #mymumsaterf
some brilliant tweets proudly bearing the #mymumsaterf around right now!

axolotlfloof · 05/05/2022 17:02

These people show themselves up as immature and with little life experience.
The tide is turning.
