The College of Policing wants forces to ‘decolonise' training and be more diverse
The jargon-filled equality manifesto was sent out to constabularies nationwide
The document also encourages police forces to become a ‘Stonewall Champion’
Police forces are also advised to ‘consider introducing gender neutral facilities’

Forces and universities offering professional policing courses are also being advised to ‘consider introducing gender neutral facilities’ to take account of ‘gender reassignment’ candidates.

Police forces have been urged to ‘decolonise’ their training material in a bid to attract new recruits from diverse backgrounds
The College of Policing document encourages forces to become a ‘Stonewall Champion’ – an organisation endorsed by the LGBT campaign group for meeting its workplace equality criteria.

This links well to another police story

They really are doubling down.

When will they ever learn?

I had an application form filled in for a job at the College of Policing with a very good chance of getting the job, but then became aware of Harry and Fair Cop and didn't apply. I'm so pleased now!

What does 'decolonise training' mean, anyone know?

Hoardasurass · 01/05/2022 13:27

Introducing more gender neutral facilities could be positive though couldn’t it? Particularly as that is what the latest EHRC is recommending.

It's going to be different for the training for many roles such as education, medicine, policing, social care so I doubt there's a straightforward explanation that is universally applicable.

I would assume that it starts from the CRT stance that policing is inherently in line with Bell Hooks' critique of the power structure that enables and facilitates the defence and maintenance of

imperialist white supremacist capitalist patriarchy

I've no idea what that would mean for the CoP's preferred curriculum for the courses that support them.

ahagwearsapointybonnet · 01/05/2022 13:38

Depends if they're in addition to, or replacing single-sex provision (and also whether the single-sex is then made genuinely single-SEX, not gender, if it wasn't already!

Hmm, I know what you mean, I'm swerving some departments at the moment when considering jobs. But wondering if I'm being a coward, and the only way to fight it is from inside?

Most likely the removal of any and all references to women, or any other sexed based language that refers specifically to females.

The whole gender neutral facilities thing pisses me off. It's mixed sex. They want to remove the facilities of female officers to appease a handful of men.

Bewaldeth · 01/05/2022 13:48

LK1972 I'm doing that 'work from the inside' thing in my current role which is actually a more senior role than the police one, so I'm doing my bit Grin

Good on you! I'm still very stealth as quite new and relatively junior, plus we're not that captured here, but I'll try and be brave in the next move, it's the only way we'll beat this crap, from the inside Smile

Artichokeleaves · 01/05/2022 14:06

imperialist white supremacist capitalist patriarchy

Oh ffs.

At this point, they need to separate into two organisations. One can work on all this wankery and disappearing beyond the realm of making sense to any normal person or having any grip on reality.

The other organisation may just then be able to get some bloody policing done.

I am NOT paying taxes for this kind of righteous nutjobbery.

Bewaldeth · 01/05/2022 14:07

I'm now old and crabbit and am finding I have fewer fucks to give.

I am covered by loads of protected characteristics so I join our various networks to promote provision for women, older people, disabled people, religious people etc. I make them consider all nine PCs

Likewise, but just quietly observing at the moment. Also old and craggy and out of fucks, but had loads of time off as SAHM, and really like it here overall, so am careful to pick the right battle. Need to be more brave!

Probably they would be happy with that, as they want diversity to more represent the public at large.

LK1972 · 01/05/2022 16:22

Gosh, Mishi, aren't you all acab normally? What diversity is it you think they need? All these recent news about institutional misogyny of UK police must've passed you by. Funny that Hmm

TheBiologyStupid · 01/05/2022 17:03

Silly me, thinking that the real problem that needs addressing is sex misconduct by the police... inews.co.uk/news/sexual-misconduct-allegations-against-police-workers-uk-forces-statistics-1227576

Misogynistic much! Don't women count in the diversity stakes?

Bewaldeth · 01/05/2022 17:26

Well if they'd employed me they'd have got lots of diversity in one fell swoop. I fall under 7 of the 9 protected characteristics of the Equality Act.

But you're missing the sparkly protected characteristics, so you don't count Wink

nauticant · 01/05/2022 17:45

The word "diversity" has changed in recent times and now it means subscribing to a set of particular ideological viewpoints. The most diverse workplace you can have is when everyone holds and agrees on these same viewpoints.

Yep, I grew up in that sort of 'diversity', the tone of the other side is what really terrified me when I've started reading up on this. There's a definite whiff of Cultural Revolution methods, with our own teenagers indoctrinated into the Red Guard. Their scary inability to even hear the other side without spouting the mantras backShock

It has been a highly successful societal brainwashing campaign by a dedicated campaign groups, stealthily organised (remember Dentons) and well financed by certain industries likely to benefit by medicalisation of gender non-conformity.

But women will overcome, eventually

13% of male MPs (56 out of 425) are facing allegations of Sexual Misconduct

MrsOvertonsWindow · 01/05/2022 18:46

The College of Policing are out of control. They make up hate crime laws with no democratic scrutiny. They're captured by the usual extremist queer theory groups upending the social contact in favour of pushing male supremacy to the detriment of women and children.
They have been silent and ineffective in the face of the industrial levels of sexual and physical abuse of women and girls by their officers, rape appears to have been decriminalised with their approval and they preside over so many toxic police forces that do nothing to support the many decent police officers trying to serve the public.
They've spent and are spending hundreds of thousands of £££ on self indulgent campaigns for "diversity" that do nothing to address the levels of discrimination, poverty, racism, sexism & VAWG but promote self indulgent rainbow washing campaigns with endless officer hours wasted on social media.
They're a shameful shambles.
(sorry for the rant)

Absolutely. Male behaviour is not a problem that "diversity" (of everything except viewpoint) or "inclusion" (of everyone except women) are going to fix in the police service, parliament, or anywhere else.
