Big update on Rape Crisis legal challenge

I know many of you have been waiting for an update so first of all thank you for your patience and the many messages of support.

I am suing Survivors Network, the Sussex Rape Crisis service, as it refused to offer a single sex women’s group in addition to the mixed sex women’s groups. By mixed sex I mean inclusive of any males who identify as women.

I’ve been granted anonymity due to the sensitive nature of the case and it was submitted to Brighton County Court today.

I am being represented by law firm Didlaw and my Barrister is Naomi Cunningham (Chair of Sex Matters). So far they have acted pro bono which I am incredibly grateful for as it has taken a lot of time. The team are confident I have a good case but this is unchartered territory for women’s rights.

All profits from the sale of the book are going to For Women Scotland as it mainly covers the whole GRR Bill Saga. But there are others poems in there!

The update says:

We have an initial court date!
Finally, after months and months of chasing we have an initial hearing date for case management. This will be a short hearing on 15 August 2023 to set down directions/deadlines for the preparation of the case. We will then have a date when the case will be listed for trial. I will keep you updated. Once again, thank you all for your support.

@IamSarah Glad to hear its finally moving on, even if very slowly, through the justice system.

The Sussex rape crisis centre at Brighton Trans Pride this weekend. The same 'trans inclusive feminism is hot' banner as last year.

'Just be nice' is new.

It's not a particularly nice message sign anyway, I mean who thinks equating feminism with hot is something to aspire to, trans movement or not. But to be held in conjunction with the Survivors network banner is just bloody weird.

And I notice on that printed Survivors Network banner they are doubling down on the fuck you to women who may need a single sex space in which to discuss their trauma caused by men away from men.

What utter idiots.

Young women so open-minded that their brains have fallen out.
