Big update on Rape Crisis legal challenge

I know many of you have been waiting for an update so first of all thank you for your patience and the many messages of support.

I am suing Survivors Network, the Sussex Rape Crisis service, as it refused to offer a single sex women’s group in addition to the mixed sex women’s groups. By mixed sex I mean inclusive of any males who identify as women.

I’ve been granted anonymity due to the sensitive nature of the case and it was submitted to Brighton County Court today.

I am being represented by law firm Didlaw and my Barrister is Naomi Cunningham (Chair of Sex Matters). So far they have acted pro bono which I am incredibly grateful for as it has taken a lot of time. The team are confident I have a good case but this is unchartered territory for women’s rights.

@titchy honestly if it is robin then this has to be classed as witness intimidation

This is a perfect example of letting a witness know they are seen wherever they go.

Please don't assist in getting this thread either focused away from the person that needs support or in getting the thread deleted. Either way Sarah loses again.

Yes and for the second time, having already been deprived of the safety of the women's group at the crisis centre. These lowlife simply will not leave rape victims alone. I could speculate as to the reasons but that's hardly necessary given most people here can see the red flags in glorious technicolour.

That particular poster is a regular fixture on the FWR boards. It's highly likely to be the same person, although appearing on this particular thread is a new low of unprofessionalism. The same kind of behaviour has undone others who sang a similar tune in the past. I watched (with some disbelief) as the whole thing unfolded on Twitter. The perpetrator eventually met her match in a more worthy opponent than she was, and whilst it took the Bar Standards Board far too long to act in disbarring this 'lawyer', act they eventually did.

I wonder whether Bar Standards would be interested in this situation.

Well I guess there are positives to having RMW on defence council.

If defence counsel have any sense they will be trying to mitigate the clusterfuck of what occurred on this thread today by keeping RMW as far away as possible from you from now on.

Only just checked up on this thread and i am genuinely flabbergasted at this person's actions. After their comments a year or so ago on here I didn't think I could be more shocked, but here I am. I hope you are screenshotting - the comments I saw before were removed.

I can't imagine a situation where I'd instructed a barrister and would want them to go and argue with the litigant on a public forum, especially one where they had previously been unable to control their comments.

Well there are always the delights of Pronouns bundles too! With pronoun as the opposing counsel you cannot lose.

And if Robin is RobinMoiraWhite then I'm sure she'll have a perfectly good explanation as to why she thought the comments that she made on this thread were totally in keeping with how a decent upstanding member of the profession would behave whilst not bringing her profession into disrepute! And how it wasn't in any way shape or form meant to upset or intimidate the witness. (Given that her initial reason for posting on this thread actually was about something connected to another case that had it's own live thread on here that she could easily have posted on any time over the post few months).

Had a bit of a personal setback yesterday. Got invited to a party with a lot of friends I haven’t seen for ages. Happily accepted and was looking forward to it. Then spotted the man who raped me is on the guest list.

It’s times like this I really, really miss the group at Survivors Network. It was the only place I could share things like this with women who understood.
