I think Scotland has real issues with all this self ID nonsense and 'cancelling' anyone who dissents. TRA are running amok.
The SNP have aligned with the Greens on this iirc. I know SNP has a lot of support but I do think voters in Scotland need to take a close look at what they are really agreeing to if they keep supporting Sturgeon.

I've noticed recently, anecdote not data, more gay men complaing about being expected to fu date tm and there seem to be a lot of gay men having their twitter accounts suspended.

ImAvingOops · 25/04/2022 10:46

Sad to say but the sooner this does start to affect men, the sooner it will be pushed back.

Swayingpalmtrees · 25/04/2022 11:22

This is good news, this is everyone's problem!

NarcissasMumintheDoghouse · 25/04/2022 11:34

Yes @ImAvingOops and @Swayingpalmtrees.

I get sooooooo angry when an article about TRA infringements on women's spaces appears in the newspapers, and BTL you get comments along the lines of "why aren't you women more angry", "why aren't feminists protesting this".

When it is largely men pushing the TRA agenda; and it affects every man's female children.

There is a lot of this on TikTok -the idea that someone is "phobic" if they don't want to date someone they're not attracted to, because of this TRA moment.

Good ! It’s about time men spoke out about this. I’m no fan of AS however ALBA candidates have been the only ones to talk about the rights of women and children in Scotland.
The whole SNP , with a couple of notable exceptions, have lost their minds about this and I hope the women & men who used to vote for them have a long think about the fact that SNP/Greens hate women.

IvyTwines · 25/04/2022 12:21

Yes, I've noticed much more comment from gay men too. I think it's the demographic shift: the Tumblr teenagers who had 'top surgery' and testosterone are now entering their 20s, so gay men are now starting to experience the pressures that lesbians have been trying to tell them about for the last few years.

GoodWeatherforDucks · 25/04/2022 12:49

@NarcissasMumintheDoghouse

100% agree!

There's also ISP, the Independence for Scotland Party. Somehow they don't get the attention, but are standing in some Council wards.

That's a depressing thought but I think you're onto something.

RhannionKPSS · 25/04/2022 23:40

By the way only three TRAs turned up to protest against AS at the Alba meeting in Aberdeen.

Contrast this with the amount of women who
were out on the streets of cities & towns in Scotland handing out leaflets and speaking to people to raise awareness of what is going on in our schools, hospitals and how the SNP/Greens are planning to further destroy the rights of women and children.
The people we spoke to were overwhelmingly supportive and appalled by the situation.

They may be finally beginning to come for the men, especially the gay men, who are told that not considering trans men as erotic partners is transphobic.

I also see many men waking up about what's happening in the women's sports, especially men with daughters.

But men are not getting anywhere near the level of erasure women are experiencing. They are not ejaculators in condom ads (the way we are now menstruators in period supply ads) or individuals with a prostate in public health messages about prostate cancer (the way we are individuals with a cervix in information about cervical cancer screenings). Inclusiveness is only demanded from women as we are supposed to be kind.

And I doubt that this will change, because the gender identity ideology is very deeply sexist and demands almost nothing from the male sex.

A gay friend started to wake up to the whole gender thing when three of his more vulnerable friends claimed to be transgender, as if identifying as a women would be the solution to their problems.

His view was that long term membership of the London gay party scene, with too many poppers mixed with long term anti-virals was a more likely cause. And was disappointed that Stonewall, which he had been closely allied to since he had been at University, seemed so unconcerned about some of the social issues within the gap community and so fixated on transgenderism.

I mean it's depressing that it takes the issue affecting men for it to gain better traction, but if it brings more light on the issue then I'm all for it.

Not wanting to derail but - are long term anti virals having ill effects? I worry about DS who uses Prep , a prophylactic treatment. In the last 2 years he has developed intolerance of certain foods. Maybe a coincidence but...

Needmoresleep · 27/04/2022 08:46

I should have been more specific. HIV drugs. My friend had been on them for at least a couple of decades, including the early days when the cocktail was pretty strong. Not unusual for people in his social circle.

(He has since quit London to get away from what he came to acknowledge as a pretty heavy scene.)
