Is this in Scottish schools? Which schools? Would be good to see some more evidence.

Lovely Hmm

When it comes to "queer", there's no such thing as inappropriate or not suitable for a particular age range. If you object to explicit sex depictions or instructions, it's just transphobia/queerphobia. Anything "queer" must automatically be great for kids.

I am so fucked off with this and the obvious, OBVIOUS safeguarding issues that so many in power are conveniently ignoring. And yes I did march against Clause 28. But saying people can be gay is not the same as normalising explicit sex images and terms for primary school kids.

DZ I don't know if it is in Scottish schools - I think there's been a big argument in the US about this and similar books in school libraries, with some banning them and others claiming that to do so is "transphobia" (rather than y'know, age-appropriateness a la cinema ratings).

I imagine plenty of people think it would be great for it to be in every school so it's not impossible, but I was having a general rant.

I don't know if this has been posted before but it seems like the Scottish government are keen on keeping parents in the dark about what they're teaching their kids regarding sex education because "the parents wouldn't like it." Given the whole drag queen visit to a Paisley primary school (Flo job) it wouldn't surprise me.

There's an interesting bit in the video from 18.30 onwards where a man questions the sex education being taught in school. He states that pornography is being positively promoted and anal sex is illustrated with a video of a banana being dipped into Nutella. When he questions whether this is appropriate, they quickly try to shut him up and get the microphone off him.

I love how the whole argument is translated by the sign language interpreter.

I know! Smile

Education in Scotland is devolved and therefore the responsibility of Scottish Government. Here’s a critique written in Sept last year -
