Where and why did it go?
And all the recipes?

Some recipes would be really useful now actually looking at the state of some recent thread whataboutery fuckery.

I'm struggling with trying to make gluten free dumplings. Can anyone help?

MNHQ were not too happy about women referencing it, iirc. I'm not quite sure why.

LittleWhingingWoman · 27/03/2022 08:48

That's crap as it was a useful ramble of a place to be.

I've found a recipe for vegan crunchies! I'm not even vegan but I want to make these!

Well there’s a lot of baking to do when you have a sudden rush of visitors.

WorkingItOutAsIGo · 27/03/2022 09:11

Has Bunbury been deleted?

LittleWhingingWoman · 27/03/2022 09:19

I've done a quick dig and think someone has a recipe thread here
Bunburys recipe book www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/4511598-Bunburys-recipe-book.

Much needed as you say - we have a lot of guests arriving now so we need to get baking!

DomesticatedZombie · 27/03/2022 09:20

It's not possible to 'delete' Bunbury, because Bunbury resides in the hearts and minds of various vipers and will remain there, in sturdy hillwalking boots, musing on how to adapt recipes and knitting patterns. Smile

LittleWhingingWoman · 27/03/2022 09:24

Which reminds me - I bought - and would recommend - some DOWN FILLED TROUSERS for a cold hike/camping recently.
My goodness they were grrreat! Cheapest pair on Amazon and they are huge on me but I LOVE them so much they get worn in the house on colder days to save on the heating!

I always imagined Bunbury as some sort of Moomin. Especially as Moomins get annoyed about the larger Hemulens eating all the jam.

"A new comer arrived in the valley. A big healthy Hemulen. Moomintroll was not impressed, he was concerned that the creature would eat lots of jam. The Hemulen decided to build a igloo and started ordering everyone with the construction."

Yes, it would be lovely to have Germaine return and give her views on how to deal with those who come to the boards not only to goad but to get off. Pertinent right now I'd say.

Deliriumoftheendless · 27/03/2022 10:12

How come the only time I see a poster use the word “normal” to describe heterosexuals or anyone who doesn’t identify as trans, it’s someone who is them self trans, or an ally?

Sorry, it really bugs me.

WorkingItOutAsIGo · 27/03/2022 10:14

Yes but there used to be an advice thread from Aunt Bunbury kept quite near the top of FWR…have we just stopped bumping it?

DomesticatedZombie · 27/03/2022 10:14

I think it got deleted, Working. Monitors didn't like women talking amongst themselves.

IcakethereforeIam · 27/03/2022 10:18

I always think Pete Townsend looks like Snufkin, particularly if he's wearing a hat. I think more people should know this. So forgive me for indulging myself.

I loved Bunbury! Useful info, recipes and a lot of laughter. This is really annoying. Or should I say it makes me very cross ...

SolasAnla · 27/03/2022 10:25

Your link did not link
I looked and now i am hungry😣

So it sounds like we need to try again with a good post about community disruptors and sea lions…

2Rebecca · 27/03/2022 10:50

Visitors despite needing more cakes also contribute to mumsnet's numbers and presumably attract advertisers. I'm just doing poached eggs so no recipe at the moment

IcakethereforeIam · 27/03/2022 10:52

There's some lovely YouTube films from Namibia, these people rescue fur seals from fishing entanglements. Lots of seal pups. Sometimes a bit gory, you wouldn't believe the damage even cotton thread can do. But seal pups!

Monitaurus · 27/03/2022 11:20

I do not particularly enjoy baking or cooking but see it as a better use of my time then wasting it on some of the posts we now have to endure.

Cuck00soup · 27/03/2022 11:28

When my child announced he was a tiger, I asked what he would be eating for tea. His answer of Toasted marshmallows showed he had never met a real life tiger.

The nice man from the windows help desk doesn't work for Microsoft. The best advice is to ignore and report them, but as long as no one tells dear Aunt Germaine, sometimes it's fun to tug the tiger's tail.

Now, has anyone got a recipe for baked risotto?

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 27/03/2022 14:06

Mystery solved at last! I've spotted this word around this site for aeons and for the life of me couldn't make that link. I kept associating it with Wilde's Bunburying around to avoid socially unwanted situations (and the implicit homoerotic meaning as well).

No wonder I was confused Smile

WorkingItOutAsIGo · 27/03/2022 15:18

Mariel - that’s exactly the genesis of Aunt Bunbury here. She gets you out of awkward situations you don’t want to be in. Often but not solely by sharing her recipes.
