I just want to thank you, Graham. Thank you for caring as much as you do. You will be vindicated, and women won't forget that you stood with us when few had the bravery and integrity to speak the truth. I am sorry it has cost you so much.

Wow. Just read the comments. I thought Linehan sounded like a mad man. They didn’t take his family. He chose to die on this hill. It’s like experiencing the homophobia from 30/35years ago. Almost exactly the same narrative. I presume none of you are trans? Not entirely sure what your experience is but I have a trans male friend who for the first time in his mid 40’s can go unchallenged in toilets. I suspect almost any woman who is butch gets challenged in a toilet from time to time. There has been zero sisterly attitude towards them. Seriously, you all sound so out of touch with what is happening in the world. “Mass hysteria”? Do me a fucking favour

OhSister · 27/03/2022 03:34

Thank you Glinner.

For recognising that biological sex is an age-old, world-wide and very live axis of oppression.

For understanding that we can't fight sexism if we all are forced to pretend that sex no longer exists, or matters.

For seeing the very recent trend of re-labelling personalities as 'gender identities' for the steeped-in-stereotype, regressive, sexist bunkum that it is.

And most of all, for having the integrity and courage to say it all out loud.

I'm sorry it's been so tough. You deserve so much better. Women won't forget.

When you say a trans male friend, do you mean a man who can now go unchallenged in the women's loos? Why would we feel "sisterly" towards him? What do I have in common with him that I don't with any other man beyond stereotypes and personality? Whereas a woman who identifies as a man, well there's always been tons of support here for her.
LittleWhingingWoman · 27/03/2022 08:09

There's loads of support on that Mail article for you @Glinner.

Most importantly thanks for standing up for children and vulnerable women in the face of this Saville legacy of lies.

This is very offensive to gay people. They are not trying to invade women's spaces or steal women's prizes. And of course most trans identified males are not gay. Linehan knows this even if you don't.
Iwassonaive · 27/03/2022 10:24

@PerseverancePays

Thank you Graham. Thank you for speaking up, thank you for your bravery. People are too frightened to speak the truth, this is like the Salem witch trials ; politics ,persecution and hysteria.
Thank you so much Flowers

If you want to talk about homophobia, gender ideology is inherently homophobic. Stonewall has changed their definition of homosexuality to same gender attraction, instead of the actual definition which is same sex attraction. That is appallingly homophobic. Shockingly so, in fact.

And as always, the focus is on toilets. What about prisons? Rape crisis centres? Hospital wards? There are documented instances of women coming to harm becuae of self id. Why don't they matter? Where's the sisterhood for them?

Literally the opposite narrative. FFS.

Oh yes, straight white males are the most oppressed group in history ever. Yep.

ClemFandangoCanYouHearMe · 27/03/2022 10:47

Thank you for speaking out Graham.

My account did something weird and I can’t log into it, so this is a reply from MumofTwoBeauties :-)

This is what I’m talking about…. I said my trans male friend, I referred to them as he. Before they transitioned they were a woman. So as a butch lesbian cos woman they were CONSTANTLY harangued using the women’s toilets because people thought they were a man and HOW DARE THEY?! So, like I said. Gender non conforming women have never been welcome in women’s toilets. Now, my friend is able to use the men’s toilets and never be challenged. It’s a huge relief for him.

I do a lot of reading about all this from every side of the perspective. This thread had nobody speaking out against what Linehan said.

anotherMumoftwobeauties · 27/03/2022 11:31

Yes. I inferred that from your use of he to refer to your trans friend.

There have been many GNC women posting on this board in the past, some of whom have been challenged in toilets. From what they've said, the women challenging have realised their mistake the second that the person started speaking and have apologised profusely. And as one poster said, she didn't take offence at being questioned because she knew the fear behind the question. I am by no means saying that this is the case across the board or that your friend hasn't been challenged in a more aggressive way BTW.

You are focusing on your friend using the men's toilets (though I do wonder how men feel about their toilets becoming mixed sex) but not on how, in the push for toilets to be used on gendered lines rather than sex lines, impacts on the females using women's toilets. There are safety and dignity concerns which impact on women and particularly impact on women who due to other reasons which are considered protected characteristics cannot used mixed sex spaces.

The word cis is a nonsense.

LauriePartridge4Eva · 27/03/2022 15:22

Birthgiveroftwobeauties, I've changed your horrifically transphobic name for you. Do better.

I REALLY want to see Father Ted the Musical. So funny. that and Black Books TV show. I'll be first in line to buy tickets or crowdfund getting it to the stage.

Thank you Glinner Flowers
