Labour Councillor for Fallowfield. 'Proud ginger and socialist' Hmm

Her twitter account is locked - strange that as she works for the public but only the constituents that she likes can see her tweets.

But she posted

Wow this TERF bunch are alooottt lol. My first experience of a pile-on and all I can think of is haven't they got anything anything more important to worry about than other peoples genitals? [Laughing emoji] As a LGBT woman, I'm not scared of trans women , and I'm certainly not scared of you

It seems like a right of passage or a badge of honour now to have people upset and annoyed are what you are saying. Where is the professionalism? When did adult MPs think 'LOL" is acceptable when responding to criticism?

I am so fucking fed up of these women doing this to us .Labour women do not give a shit and the unprofessionalism especially on SM is staggering.

WTF happened to labour?

I suppose the Labour leadership would say it can’t be responsible for the tone of every councillor or office holder on social media.

Except that actually they could have done plenty. They could have made it plain that it’s not acceptable to use pejorative name-calling, for one thing, and that the T word is not acceptable. They could have defended Rosie Duffield. And they could have spoken up for JK Rowling and her right to speak and be listened to. All of which would have sent a clear message.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 23/03/2022 12:07

Has a memo gone out from Labour HQ? So many idiots spouting woman hating ignorant nonsense in the last few days.

donkey86 · 23/03/2022 12:11

I agree with your general point, but she’s not an MP, just a local councillor.

OhHolyJesus · 23/03/2022 12:12

How old is this woman? She sounds quite immature. I realise it's Twitter and not a council meeting but in a public facing role I would apply higher standards to elected officials.

Labour councillor you say? Right.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 23/03/2022 12:15

There was another one a few days ago spouting off about how women don't find "cis" offensive.

IvyTwines · 23/03/2022 12:15

I think many, most, of the women who males allow into public life are the ones who have been vetted as unlikely to threaten male power. The ones who won't are doxxed and cancelled.

tabbycatstripy · 23/03/2022 12:16

The Labour Party is entirely responsible for this mess of councillors and MPs saying ridiculous things. Hopefully they'll be out of power for another generation.

Beowulfa · 23/03/2022 12:17

Enjoy your erasure, Labour.

I agree. But after what they did to Rosie I cant every see that happening

Wasn't this discussed a while back? A panel of men decided a lesbian woman couldn't apply for a role in labour?

So next time anyone asks why people keep voting the tories in, here's your answer. If Starmer is serious about winning the next election he needs tell his MPs to stop antagonising 50%of the electorate!!

JoodyBlue · 23/03/2022 13:00

I am so tired of the word "genitals". Up until the last few years I had barely had need to hear it. The arguments are very little to do with "genitals" in real terms. Any one who mentions the word as a principle consideration hasn't understood the arguments really. The arguments are to do with the considerable strength that men have over women and the propensity of some men to use it against women.

nauticant · 23/03/2022 17:00

Another Labour nobody but she has made the news before. This time it's gender identity ideology, and last time it was ...

A Labour council candidate has apologised for social media posts in which she said she was a “little bit sick in my mouth” at the sight of an Israeli flag.

Jade Doswell is standing in next month’s local elections in Manchester. She said that she expressed her “sincerest apologies” to the Jewish community over the 2014 post and that she was “deeply upset” she had caused offence.

Whatiswrongwithmyknee · 28/03/2022 14:46

She's really shown herself up here.
Genitals are a problem when men weaponise theirs. However, there rae plenty of other biological differences between men and women and as an MP she should care about them - e.g. women's greater chance of dying in a car crash as the dummies are based on male bodies. She should also care about the oppression meted out to woman as a result of being women (i.e. their biology). All she has done here is shown that she is not fit to be in a position of any power as she cannot understand a deeper argument and she cares not for equality. What a bigot.

WinterTrees · 28/03/2022 15:06

Fallowfield has a very big student population, which might explain why she's so keen to come out with this daftness. (Though it in no way excuses it.)

NecessaryScene · 28/03/2022 15:27

The arguments are very little to do with "genitals" in real terms.

When they've finished this fight, their next campaign is to try to get horses into as many inappropriate situations as possible, and every time someone points out that their horse isn't a dog, or a fish, or a person, all you'll hear is "haven't they got anything anything more important to worry about than animals' hooves?"

WelcomeMarch · 28/03/2022 15:31

The arguments are to do with the considerable strength that men have over women and the propensity of some men to use it against women.

My sticking point is, why does changing the word used about someone change anything else about them? As far as I can see, changing just the word man to woman is supposed to plonk that person into the opposite sex category.

Why, for crying out loud? Why is the word more important than the body?

Imnobody4 · 28/03/2022 16:02

It's not just her - she's retweeted a colleague. Labour have become an embarrassment. twitter.com/JonConnorLyons/status/1506380256428576783?t=FuxNDG7F_a_iSwV209gWEw&s=19
I've blocked the transphobe and Tory @BramhamAlex and I'm sure he'll claim this is awful and disgraceful. His vile hatred for Trans people and people in #PiccadillyWard is what is disgraceful. Any political party in Piccadilly that associates with such hate should be ashamed.

If you look at Alex Branham he's a gay Tory sticking up for WPUK.

Jon's Pinned tweet.
Thank you to all Councillors who passed the motion on Trans rights today at full Council. Thank you particularly to Cllr @JadeDoswelll who seconded the motion. It passed was unanimously! 🏳️‍⚧️

Some of this is because trans activists have pressured politicians for years, while our side has been unaware of this happening. They have also written to newspapers whenever 'inclusiveness' has not adequately been shown, and they have pestered feminist organisations to change the language they use or be called transphobic.

The squeaky wheel gets the oil. When the other side of the issues is finally brought up the first reaction of the politicians is to double down on their assertions as they still think using the same old patterns. When that doesn't work, they lock their accounts and retreat to the back rooms.

And that may still work as too few women even know what is happening, many still want to be kind or don't want to be yelled at, and others are having to meet the giant onslaught in fairly small groups.

I think politicians will change their tone if our movement grows.

Wimbunds · 28/03/2022 20:33

I received this from a local Labour councillor today. I'd said about putting the feelings of men above the safety of women and girls (hadn't mentioned trans) and got this back:

'Thanks for your email.

My own views on this issue are based on numerous discussions with the women I know (including my wife and adult daughter) and their views around trans-women and equality. By far the majority of those views are that trans-women are women and should be treated as such.

I don't believe the discussion is about the feelings of men over those of women and children, it's whether you believe in equality, safety and dignity for everybody regardless of sex or gender identity'

Oh well. Seems like you've done all the thinking you need to before giving up all protections for women then. You listened to a teenager and an unreflective woman of privilege. I guess that's all you need to do before obliterating women's sports and locking women in cells with men.
Wimbunds · 28/03/2022 21:50

Yes 🙁. Labour councillor in previous area gave a much more involved response. But was, i know trans people, they're lovely, treated poorly, we must be kind blah blah. Zero response from Labour MP. None have engaged with my questions about safeguarding, men in women's prisons etc etc.
