Strong & clear.

' Replacing sex as a legal category with ‘gender identity ’erases the biological differences that are the basis of a lot of sexist practices. It therefore undermines our ability to talk about women’s particular experiences of sexism.'
...
'WRC believe it is important to defend the principle of single-sex spaces, which is inherently exclusionary of half of the human population, as it is based on sex characteristics.'

'The Women’s Resource Centre (WRC) is an umbrella body that represents the interests of all women’s organisations that make up 'the women’s sector' in the UK. '

Thank you, WRC.

That is nicely clear and unambiguous.

Why am I so astonished at this?

DoubleYouOhEmAyEn · 19/03/2022 13:45

Yes, thats very clear. It's meant to be exclusionary, that's the point. Excluding males from certain spaces for the privacy, dignity and safety of women and girls. Simple.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 19/03/2022 14:07

So refreshing to see a group for women not dick pandering.

Horcruxe · 19/03/2022 14:09

Agree

Hoardasurass · 19/03/2022 14:26

I wonder if we can get them to have a word with rape crisis Scotland

Loveacuppa · 19/03/2022 14:27

Agreed, a great, clear statement.
Thank you WRC.
Hopefully this will help more organisations to also release their own clear, unambiguous statements, as it would be nice to know where everyone stands.

Oh my god, the relief to read that. Clicked on the thread assuming it would be "complex issue, rabbit hole, be kind" bollocks.

Olderbadger1 · 19/03/2022 14:50

Excellent. Clear, simple, unambiguous. Let's hope that women's organisations follow their lead. I think Women's Aid is due to publish a response shortly?

DomesticatedZombie · 19/03/2022 16:38

I look forward to that Olderbadger. It actually makes me feel quite emotional to hear womens organisations standing up calm and clearly to advocate for women. Because for years it feels like they've been telling women effectively to shut up and fuck off.

All of this.

Ahh that was so good to read.
Thanks DZ

Thank you WRC for holding the line
