It is a great article - but he seems to say that it's the press deciding to report in this way. I was under the impression that it is IPSO who enforce this language, and it isn't the choice of the individual publications/news channels? Am I wrong?

Not sure. He's talking about the NYT and the BBC which I guess have different regulations. I don't think the NYT has any regulatory body that oversees it, so it is down to them.

But even in the case of the BBC, he's not wrong to say that they're lying. They could say 'transwoman' couldn't they? Or 'identifies as a woman'?

Thisnis such an important issue. A low point was the male bodie rapist who went awol on pribabtion and thenpolice alert lookjng for him said they were concerned about a missing woman. Doesn’t quite have the same implications!!
