Forgive the presumption, @Mforstater, but you’re probably busy in the pub right now, or passing on all of the fan mail to you legal team Grin so I’ve made a new thread to carry on the fascinating discussion.

Round up your cats, rabbits and weasels, and let’s go!

——————————————————————————————

From thread one, here: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/4498167-Maya-Forstater-hearing-starts-Monday

Hi all,

Thank you so much for all your support: emotional, intellectual, financial, spiritual(!) reading the Mumsnet feminism board is where this all started for me!

The case starts tomorrow.

It is all online. If you want to watch you need to email the tribunal for a log in to [email protected]

It kicks off at 10am - the first bit will be "admin" between the judges and the lawyers working out the timings, issues and any reporting restrictions hmm.

Once that is all sorted the judge and the panel will go away to read (probably for the rest of Monday and all of Tuesday)

I will most likely give evidence Wednesday and Thursday.

@tribunaltweets will be tweeting the whole thing (assuming they get permission from the judge)

Links to papers will go up throughout the case at www.hiyamaya.net.

Any other questions I am happy to answer them (apart from the ones where I have to say "that is for the tribunal to hear"...)

I have made a spectators guide with FAQs etc here

Lots of love

Maya

Yes, isn't "objectively hurtful" an oxymoron? Being as "hurtful" is a personal reaction.

babyjellyfish · 16/03/2022 15:06

Thank you @tabbycatstripy, I have just devoured this whole thread.

VestofAbsurdity · 16/03/2022 15:08

On the subject of the FPFW Leaflet, it was designed to catch attention and it did, that's it that's all that needs to be said about it navel gazing about the colours and images is just that ridiculous navel gazing trying desperately to find something to be offended about.

It's a very close take on the posters "Watch Out There's a Thief About" that were very much widely distributed, as I recall the colours red and black featured in them, are they Nazi posters then?

Honestly, arguing about the design of the leaflet and the promotional video is really scraping the bottom of the barrel.

Mark Plant is COO of CGD Europe and Co-Director of Development Finance.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 16/03/2022 15:09

Can someone please tell me what "manels" means? I'm confused - I've read the updated twitter thread but have no clue!

Also can't believe a QC doesn't know the law about protected characteristics! Shock

DisgustedofManchester · 16/03/2022 15:09

I don't remember Helen Webberley posting photographs of the opposing side giving evidence on social media. Why would someone do that if they had any sense of a person's privacy or safety?

It's a panel made up of only men.
tabbycatstripy · 16/03/2022 15:11

A manel is a facetious term for a panel comprising men. CGD's policy is that they have gender diverse panels, but they might all be male because... Well.

tabbycatstripy · 16/03/2022 15:12

Here we go.

BIWI · 16/03/2022 15:12

M(ale) Panels

SamphiretheStickerist · 16/03/2022 15:12

@DisgustedofManchester do you mean the whole thread, the reporting of the tribunal here ?

Cos I see no photographs?

All I see is reporting of the tribunal and the judge is fully aware is being disseminated as it happens; is allowing people in specifically to disseminate it; has set restrictions on parts that cannot be disseminated?

Is this what you are being disgusted about today?

OK!

BIWI · 16/03/2022 15:13

Sorry - M(ale)(P)anels

Hope that formatting works!

tabbycatstripy · 16/03/2022 15:14

OD begins. Mr Plant has some corrections to his witness statement (dates). Will say if anything is important.

Manels - a panel made up purely of men, usually all of aroundabout the same age, same class, same race, same or similar professional status.

The pledge about manels was to ensure that women were included on a panel, basically if there were three members one had to be a woman, so still 2-1. MF's argument was if the woman was a TW would that not still be a manel and she's right it would.

Slothtoes · 16/03/2022 15:15

Thank you so much Tabby

nauticant · 16/03/2022 15:16

MP needing to have someone do his pen wrangling for him.

OvaHere · 16/03/2022 15:16

I missed this major contradiction from earlier Hmm

twitter.com/soppystern/status/1504075363139432451

Forstater case today (paraphrasing):

Respondent: “Maya’s blog was lacking evidence”

Maya’s counsel: “Maya refers to the Karen White case…a real case that happened”

Respondent: “Maya shouldn’t have referred to the case. It’s better to talk about the issues in the abstract” …

tabbycatstripy · 16/03/2022 15:17

I'm sure if we weren't allowed to write down what was happening, Judge Glennie would tell us, wouldn't he?

Take you all day to come up with that distraction did it? Grin

Priceless, but then again all the adherents to Gender Ideology have is contradictions.

Pluvia · 16/03/2022 15:19

Mark Plant doesn't have a pen to make a change on his paper copy of his statement and it feels absolutely typical.

CompleteGinasaur · 16/03/2022 15:19

What the has Helen Webberley got to do with this tribunal?

it is allowed
tabbycatstripy · 16/03/2022 15:20

OD talking about the website. Wants to ask some supplementary questions of Mr Plant to prevent any timetable slippage. EJ says they need to know what BC thinks first.
