This happened to a fine strong woman on International Women's Day falling foul of three donkeys and a tribunal of asses:

"A Tory police and crime commissioner has been reprimanded for sharing a JK Rowling tweet in support of women’s rights.

A male-dominated panel of councillors found Lisa Townsend had not been ‘dignified or respectful’ to trans people when she supported the best-selling author’s view that biologically male rapists were not female.

They said the Surrey PCC had broken the code of conduct for her office and demanded she explain herself to the three men who had reported her over the tweet – one of whom is local Conservative MP Crispin Blunt.

Mrs Townsend, who has received anonymous death threats, said last night: ‘These three men who complained, and a panel full of men who investigated it, have decided they must police a woman’s language about an issue of great concern to many women."

She's not allowed to retweet J. K. Rowling, but the police are allowed to cover their vans in rainbows???

MingeofDeath · 10/03/2022 00:09

It had to be Blunt didn't it?

yourhairiswinterfire · 10/03/2022 00:34

A bunch of blokes demanding women be kind and respectful to rapists. Yeah, fuck off with that, vile misogynists 🤮

I feel for the women in their lives, I really do.

Didn't it just?

Crispin Blunt really is a disgusting little man.

I find it fascinating that the same names crop up again and again. I don’t know if it’s because there are a few people providing a designated “front” or whether it’s because their numbers are genuinely small, though highly influential. I suspect it might be the latter, though I would add that some of the most influential (Stephen Whittle, James Morton) are carefully hidden and are only noticeable when you start to dig.

That's interesting. You're right that it's the same pathetic men popping up again and again.

Yes, the people with power are discreet about it to the point of non-accountability.

Time and again though, I wonder what's happened to Nolan principles for all of these holders of public offices or those who participate in public life.

Police officers endorsing challenor is totally fine though Hmm

The targeted campaign from Pride in Surrey, which aims to remove Lisa Townsend from office continues, though I believe the original statement has been edited so to have removed the 'educate with force' sentiment.

PiS is run by 3 men.

NecessaryScene · 10/03/2022 07:25

How do we get them reprimanded for not being dignified or respectful to women, by their suggestion that male rapists are female?

We seriously need to cause them similar grief.

Whatwouldscullydo · 10/03/2022 07:31

Well quite. Gaslighting is a form.of abuse. Police are meant to be the good guys arresting abusers. Not becoming abusers themselves and participating in the further abuse of rape victims

OutlookStalking · 10/03/2022 07:34

Gosh this is bad isn't it :(

MoltenLasagne · 10/03/2022 07:37

Every day I hear stories like this that convince me we're through the looking glass.

BridasShieldWall · 10/03/2022 08:04

Crispin Blunt’s actions really do underline Townsend’s tweet about not accepting gaslighting from men who say they are women and those who enable them. I find it incredible that this is the ground they are fighting on. It boils down to, transwomen aren’t a danger to women. However, if they do harm women they are women and must be called women. NB this statement does not mean I think all transwomen are rapists, they offend at the same rate as men.

That's true of so many aspects of this - just a few names, mostly but not all male, that keep cropping up, but they have an absolute obsessional focus on getting their own way and demolishing women's rights and safeguarding boundaries.
crunchermuncher · 10/03/2022 08:21

JFC my jaw literally dropped.

Women, be kind to your rapist! From the fucking police! And they wonder why sexual assaults are not reported.

I could cry. This is nothing more than state sanctioned gaslighting. Who in power can we write to? We don't even have a Secretary of State for women, it's women and equalities and we all know what that means Angry

I used to live somewhere with an old buffer Conservative MP - hated his politics but he would have been all over this. Now I've got some woke drip who would tell me to be kind.

I can't recall if there's a screenshot of it on MN but there was a mutually appreciative exchange between a Chief Constable and Challenor after the latter had been a speaker at a police conference/event the CC had attended.

Found a reference to it on MN but it's secondhand source.

In June, Aimee Challoner addressed the West Midlands Police Force Leadership Conference, invited by West Midlands Police LGBT Network, and was thanked by the Chief Constable. This is extraordinary given that Aimee's father and election agent, who lived in the same house, was at that time charged with heinous crimes

Also worth remembering that Whittle and Morton are female. Transmen are known for more than just having babies. They are also highly influential in the campaign to remove women's rights and demolish safeguarding.
AngelicInnocent · 10/03/2022 08:40

The comments on the DM article are quite showing a lot of support for JKR and Lisa at least. You would think someone in Westminster would be looking at the MSM and seeing which way the wind is blowing.

KohlaParasaurus · 10/03/2022 08:46

I am impressed with Lisa Townsend's strong and emphatic response publicly calling out the deep misogyny in the process rather than grovelling as she was instructed to do.

DomesticatedZombie · 10/03/2022 09:26

Those councillors on the panel, they're not police, are they? Can't find a name for the panel, does anyone know it?

DomesticatedZombie · 10/03/2022 09:27

Ah, got it:

twitter.com/_Lisa_Townsend/status/1501230981231280128?cxt=HHwWgIDQofTnuNUpAAAA

'Surrey Police and Crime Panel is made up of Surrey councillors. It has nothing to do with @SurreyPolice

The Panel were responding to a complaint made by Surrey MP Crispin Blunt and two other men about my tweet.'

DomesticatedZombie · 10/03/2022 09:28

This is they:

www.surreycc.gov.uk/community/emergency-planning-and-community-safety/surrey-police-and-crime-panel

'The Surrey Police and Crime Panel will consider questions submitted by Members of the Council and members of the public who are electors of the Surrey County Council area in line with the procedures set out in Surrey County Council's Constitution.'
