Karen Ingala Smith on single sex services

The brilliant KIS in an article from Sex Matters:

'It took an incredible upsurge of women’s activism to create the specialist services that exist today. Feminist activists and survivors (many women are both) built the specialist women’s sector. We should be protecting that legacy, not playing safe because we’ve become an arm of the patriarchal state. '

We are just going to have to build it all up again. By us, for us, because the men don't give a shit about women unless they are looking for a woman to shit on.

I'm so angry.

Angry women get stuff done.

I'm in awe of Karen Ingala Smith. She's just incredible.

Including males in services for those who have been subjected to sexual and domestic violence and abuse can mean excluding the most vulnerable women who need support. I know not all women survivors need this, but I don’t think those who do not need it, should be denying the space of women who do.

Yes, she is brilliant. As are many other women working in the sector who are not able to speak openly.

Wonderful clarity of exposition, laying bare the capture of the funding streams that enable cuckoos like Mridul Wadhwa to shove the abused female chicks out of the nest unless they comply with this misogynist invasion.

Which will work until males commandeer it all because unless useful to males, it's unused ground. Pointless. Unjustified.

This is the bottom line we are fighting. Females need resources and spaces away from males becuase in mixed spaces males dominate, commandeer, the agenda and all core focus revolves around them and their needs, females are excluded and their needs are not met and males and their supporters cannot see this as a problem and have no conscience or ethics about this at all . We got here on the grounds that males who identified as women would be different. It has been proved that if anything, they are even less caring about the people they claim to identify with as males who identify as men.

It's proved. QED. This does not work for females. Who are half the human race, and exist too.

For years I have posted here about half of the charity work I do, paid and volunteer. I have posted about the food bank a lot.

Last year I mentioned my radio silence and the many interesting conversations I was having, here and other places. My boss, the other management officers all agreed that I didn't need to hide it, that as long as I remained anonymous and told enough bald faced lies about the centre to keep it secret, I could and probably should speak about the issues we face. It might help towards reducing the barriers we meet in most areas of the service.

So I have 🙂

I have told enough truth to be able to discuss issues sensibly and enough lies so that anyone who tries to find me will be at least one county wrong 🙃
