Zoom lecture on VAWG interrupted and then stopped

An online lecture for a County Clare historical society by a Gender Studies lecturer, on the topic of violence against women and girls by both sides in the Irish War of Independence, had to be cancelled after several men crashed the zoom and began interrupting with sexist abuse, pornography, etc.

The moderators tried to block them but couldn't and so the talk had to be shut down.

Bloody hell. It was meant to be a lecture on history, not a live demonstration of current sexist abuse.

For once Twitter, where the group co-ordinating these attacks lurks, seems to have taken it seriously. Though I would say the idiots doing this disrupting to seem to be targeting any group and not just women. They've gone for older people, PoC, obese people, children, people with disabilities....

They are immature and stupid, rather than politically motivated. Or at least that's my take from the report.

The article bends over backwards to say tat others are being targeted too.. . But it does repeatedly say that these are male bodies using male violence to attack female spaces.
