TV Ad for Transwomens sportswear?

I was sort of half watching last night while faffing on MN Blush. When an ad came on TV encouraging Transwomen to take part in sports?
What company was it?

Adidas

Apollo441 · 19/02/2022 13:07

Encouraging transwomen to take part in whose sport? I hope they aren't encouraging cheating and endangering women. Otherwise, crack on.

Redshoeblueshoe · 19/02/2022 13:09

Probably Lia's swimwear sponsor

Lockdownbear · 19/02/2022 13:22

It was definitely encouraging transwomen to buy their sports wear for competing with the girls or something like that.
I was only half watching buy my ears pricked up at that bit.

This one?

LilithOfEden · 19/02/2022 17:01

Possibly a series of ads?

LilithOfEden · 19/02/2022 17:05

Yes, just checked, it is a series called Impossible is Nothing, featuring different women and one trans woman, the volley ball player.

Lockdownbear · 19/02/2022 17:40

That must have been it - very scary stuff that a big brand like Adidas would risk alienating half the population - to get a few trans sales!

I don't think it's the Adidas bra that's performance enhancing with that athlete.

You look at them and they are simply much bigger and stronger than the women they play with and against.

The only thing I can say is that at least the athlete has actually transitioned, unlike a US swimmer and NZ weightlifter.

1 million views, just over 100 likes. Obviously going down well.

They are all going to follow suit now aren’t they 🙄

Oof the comments!

Tone deaf just like the John Lewis advert showing the spoilt boy in a dress and heels trashing his mum's house and ruining his sister's painting.

It's interesting. Nobody is finding this uplifting, or interesting, or persuasive. How are corporations so divorced from public opinion?

How do you know she has transitioned @BootsAndRoots ?
lovelyweathertoday · 19/02/2022 19:47

What does "actually transitioned" mean? Sounds pretty transphobic if you don't believe someone is the gender they say they are.

BootsAndRoots · 19/02/2022 19:50

@User7257543 I think it's clear that she is on cross-sex hormones, probably had quite a bit of surgery, whereas the other athletes I mention I can't see any sort of medical transition (they just appear to be on testosterone suppressants, and not cross-sex hormones).

Agree it’s tone deaf. Didn’t JL pull those ads after a while? Hopefully Adidas will do the same.

WorriedMumsDontSleep · 19/02/2022 20:27

What is this bollox about her women having higher testosterone than transwomen. Where's that come from?

WorriedMumsDontSleep · 19/02/2022 20:27

Hrt not her

LunaLights · 19/02/2022 22:28

Interesting spelling of Tiffany, I’ve never seen it spelt “Tifanny” before….

Its irrelevant what medical treatment they have undergone, as no medical treatment can change a man into a woman. He still has the advantages of the larger bones, lungs, and heart that he developed at male puberty. Its ridiculous that these men are allowed to play in women's sports.
