Brava Titania/Andrew! 😉

FlibbertyGiblets · 19/02/2022 00:32

Oufft! Round of applause.

Sometimes think GC satirists have it easy-all they have to do is report what the Koolaid gang actually say and do.

NitroNine · 19/02/2022 00:53

Do you think that the staff of Vice will realise, on seeing it here, that they’ve accidentally confessed to their LITERAL inhumanity. You know, what with “gluten-free” being the natural make-up of people, not counting the sort one might purchase from a bakery (or see involved in a high-speed chase, tearing past you yelling “run, run, as fast as you can, you can’t catch me I’m the Gingerbread Man!”… what? I don’t presume to know your lives…). On the plus side, they might be monsters, but apparently they’re not [yet] eating people.

We hear so much about JKR [ab]using her platform (which is SUCH an unwise phrase for TRAs to use in the circumstances, really) to abuse trans people. And claims she encourages other people to do so. Literal violence crops up quite a bit. STG people are out there on Twitter acting as if she’s stealing their Hogwarts letters, snapping their wands, & sending them to Azkaban all in one go. TBH if you’re going to accuse JKR of being a transphobe I think i & ii are appropriate; &
some TRAs (eg those who posted dreadful things to the thread of children’s illustrations for The Ickabog ) probably COULD do with a spell in post Voldemort Azkaban.

How HOW is it that people imagine she hasn’t been prosecuted for all this rampant transphobia & incitement? The woman lives in Scotland for goodness sake - a bit of misplaced ribbon could have got her arrested. Presumably it’s all about her wealth. But if TRAs were to think THAT, they’d be saying that the Police Scotland who are so hugely over-invested in keeping Stonewall Law rather than the actual Law are, well, corrupt[able]/unfit for purpose/playing favourites. And that’s not right, is it?

Mummyoflittledragon · 19/02/2022 07:59

This is so funny. And I agree satirists have so much to work with.

I take it the Titiana face is computer generated.

Good point about JKR living in Scotland Nitro. She absolutely would absolutely have been arrested if something could be pinned on her.

NecessaryScene · 19/02/2022 08:10

I take it the Titiana face is computer generated.

Shock Lucky Titania's not here to hear your gross judging of women's appearances.

ThatsWhenTheCannibalismStarted · 19/02/2022 08:27

'...given that women are woefully underrepresented in the prison population, surely a male inmate transitioning to female can only be a good thing.'

Ha!

BraveBananaBadge · 19/02/2022 08:32

Ha. Short and sweet.

Because sometimes these things seem beyond satire - see the NYT: www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10529023/amp/NYT-slammed-ad-campaign-asks-people-imagine-Harry-Potter-WITHOUT-J-K-Rowling.html

anothersmahedmug · 19/02/2022 08:38

I think it was a tease/joke

RufustheFloralmissingreindeer · 19/02/2022 08:43

I thought so too mummy (jesus that gave me flashbacks 😳)

It’s incredibly hard to tell who’s joking anymore

Mummyoflittledragon · 19/02/2022 08:52

Rufus, yes is hard to know who’s joking anymore. I really didn’t take this as a joke. Everything is far too serious in this life. And thanks for telling me it was hopefully a joke anothersmahed.

rabbitwoman · 19/02/2022 08:54

You know, the thing is I could post that article on my Facebook page and quite a few people would not know it was satire.

Also, I expect if a few of the teenagers I know read it they would start believing that jkr actually DID say the opposite of what she actually meant as a signal to transphobes....

Not saying they're stupid. Saying this is upside down world where people really DO think it makes no sense for a male to claim to be female just to gain access to female spaces.....

Theimpossiblegirl · 19/02/2022 08:57

Brilliant.
I bloody love JKR and stand with her completely.

Hahaha this was my favourite line too.

Titania's not joking. She's here to educate you.

Bigots.

DisappearingGirl · 19/02/2022 09:16

Besides, why on earth would a serial rapist claim to be female in order to be locked up with hundreds of vulnerable women? It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

Precisely! This seems such an obvious point I can't really understand why people fail (or refuse) to see it

NitroNine · 21/02/2022 06:45

Actually - prompted by exchange with Mummyoflittledragon - wasn’t it Police Scotland who said they were going to investigate every report they received of someone looking at a trans person a bit funny?

So I wonder how many reports the police in Edinburgh are now having to deal with over “Joanne Rowling and the Relentless Transphobia”? Hmm

I would be utterly astonished if they hadn’t already had to put up with pretty-much endless nonsense (potentially right up to claims of her causing crops to fail & cows to stop giving milk etc) but surely that announcement must have kicked things up a notch?

Do you think Police Scotland have a special Mumsnet Team like South Wales Police* or that they have to rely on information-sharing? If they DO have an MN-Team what do we think their favourite biscuits are do you think they have to cover the Rowling complaints too? Or would they just be a small part of the Rowling Taskforce? (And if enough officers revive the Muggletonians could they claim their faith compels them to curse people making these complaints? It seems these days nobody bothers to stretch before making far greater reaches, so…)

  • can you even imagine explaining that your work in “cybercrime” was not to, for example, do things similar to the work of NCMEC in the US, or stopping hackers from holding the NHS to ransom/stealing State secrets, or bringing down Dark Web drug rings; but rather, you are tasked with monitoring highly-moderated message boards because Women Are Having Opinions AND EXPRESSING THEM!?
BewareTheBeardedDragon · 21/02/2022 07:40

Wait, what - South Wales Police actually have a MN team? And that is not a joke?

Cuck00soup · 21/02/2022 08:09

Such an informative article.

spacehardware · 21/02/2022 08:20

"given that women are woefully underrepresented in the prison population, surely a male inmate transitioning to female can only be a good thing"

There's a not so dark corner of the internet where men say things like this all the time. If you point out 98% of sexual crimes are committed by men, and 88% of their victims are female, you're a misandrist. They are mad.
