The Overton window has shifted yet again.

@Ides

Has anybody interviewed the children involved in all this, to find out whether or not they actually have been traumatised by it or not?

I can't help feeling that said children won't care and will have forgotten about it. They'll have just thought 'Right, this is weird .... Never mind, I'm not being tested on it, so who cares?'

The vast majority of kids will just think it's one of those odd things that adults deem to be important, but they, the kids, think is just pointless rubbish. (Just like I thought, about every Bible lesson, throughout my school years.)

A few kids, who are troubled about their gender-identity, might be helped in some way.

Who knows? Me, my opinion is: just keep your feverish pro-transgender, or pro GC, stupidity and nuttiness out of the classroom. The very best you'll ever get from the schoolkids is that your dogma (whether it be pro trans, or pro GC) just makes you look like an idiot - just like the fanatical Christian garbage did, fifty years ago.

And I don't think we want children to think we adults are any more idiotic than we already appear.

Sorry to disappoint, but we don't tend to let children safeguard themselves.

No one was saying they were 'traumatised'. You seem to have missed the point entirely.

Aside from anything else I find it really odd as we don’t have “golfers’ reading time for kids” or “communists’ reading time
for kids” or “dog walkers’ reading time for kids”. Why just this one group? Hmm.

Does grooming 'traumatise' kids?

er, the whole point is to gently and perniciously slide around boundaries and teach the kids to accept and go along with what an adult wishes them to do in order to be able to make use of them. The whole point is that children don't reach the point of saying no, stop, this is wrong.

About two sentences from Peter Tatchell is a tragically illuminating example of how grooming harms children, and how it can lead them to grow up with destroyed boundaries.

So no. Just waiting to see if in a decade or two we have really fucked up by abnegating our childcare responsibilities and whoops, look at the harm caused, isn't a go for me. Stupid, passive, useful idiots with good intentions are becoming a really serious problem in this country.
