Dr EM on RevStu's blogsite.

Dr EM is a disabled, feminist writer and historian. She writes under a pen name due to threats to her safety and tweets as @PankhurstEM.

Long and shocking essay.

Everyone should read this.

It is so shocking.

How easy it had been to not be aware of the vast extent of sexual abuse disabled children and adults have suffered. I feel ashamed as it is so obvious they would be the most likely targets of anyone with predatory inclinations.

It is beyond belief that self ID and certain NHS sanctioning of trans women as intimate carers of vulnerable girls will pave a wide, easily accessible road for those abusively inclined.

I personally do not believe that, even seen in the most charitable light, any trans woman would apply for this job if they felt sensitivity for the feelings of disabled girls and women. That alone should disqualify such a carer from this job.

Chilling.

Jesus wept.

I have never forgotten the woman in a coma who gave birth in the USA. Article quotes other cases around the world. www.rollingstone.com/culture/culture-news/coma-birth-woman-arisona-hacienda-healthcare-776902/

Dr EM has rather a good point.

OperationDessertStorm · 08/02/2022 04:25

Care worker attacks 99 year old woman in care home.

Horrific.

I'm so furious about all of that as well as the fact that some special schools are pushing the ideology. What hope do some kids have when they're beyond confused about who is male or female?

So furious.

Lordamighty · 08/02/2022 07:50

That is such a great essay, a heartbreaking but necessary read.

FrancescaContini · 08/02/2022 07:55

I couldn’t read beyond “blind and disabled children”. It’s horrifying. So many children abused, time and time again Angry

Ereshkigalangcleg · 08/02/2022 09:11

That's an article which needs to be very widely shared.

ScrollingLeaves · 08/02/2022 11:12

Can you send articles to MPs I wonder, or are they inundated to try to read them?

HirplesWithHaggis · 08/02/2022 11:34

Back in the day, RevStu's blog was very widely read in Holyrood. Don't know if that still applies since he kind of suspended it.

I feel like sending this to my MP and requiring him to establish - am I and other female humans at this point, real humans with actual lives and equal value in this world? With consent and autonomy?

Or are we just walking bits of meat with female biology which is a resource belonging to males, and which males have a right of access to?

Because the autonomy is starting to feel awfully bloody conditional on whether a male at this moment wants use, whether for a prop or a participant in their personal agenda. And at the same time I'm being required to pretend I don't actually have this biology at all - also because of male people.

We have props in prison being abused for the greater happiness of biologically male people, and now we're saying that the happiness of a medical examiner or carer and their right of access to someone with female biology must come before the perceptions and rights and autonomy of the female in possession of the biology.

So am I just a prop belonging to the males of this world, or what? If so, why am I paying taxes?

EmbarrassingHadrosaurus · 08/02/2022 13:14

Yes. We're supporting actors in the drama of life as it is lived by the main and important characters who drive the plot.

How foolish of us to think otherwise.

When I was little, abuse in children's homes was well known, as was the seniority and social status of the people involved in it. It's one of the many reasons that there didn't seem to be any point in referring children to Social Services or similar because you were just transferring children from one foul set of circumstances to another.

About 3 years ago, I finally saw a story in the Daily Mail about a woman who is a contemporary of mine and from a nearby area. It had taken decades to get official acknowledgement that the leading member of the Home Office who was in charge of that 'Home for Wayward Girls' was an active organiser of the abuse there.

It has been happening in plain sight and never stopped. And it's still permitted now with so many people pretending that it's not true, or exaggerated, or women are being hysterical…

HirplesWithHaggis · 08/02/2022 15:02

That's something else Nicola promised to sort out, the care system. There were tearful tv interviews with care-experienced young adults, so glad things were going to happen now. She's done fuck all. Angry

There is a guest post thread on ‘Talk’ about supporting disabled children and their families. Reading there about the terrible difficulties they deal with, together with this thread, makes it so ridiculous that politicians in the U.K. keep referring to trans people as the most oppressed and marginalised in our society.

Such a good point. There are so many vulnerable groups of children with parents of children with disabilities / SEN desperate to get the most basic of resources, placements , care for their children standing by while schools throw hundreds of thousands of £££ into the coffers of lobby groups, changing all their systems, policies, toilets, SRE and the rest, to accommodate the demands of this unrepresentative yet powerful group of predominantly men.

Predators must invariably be assumed to go wherever prey can be found. Jimmy Savill liked to spend time in mortuaries, as well as everywhere else.

I can't remember the details, but a woman in her 70's had a stroke and was then found to have been raped overnight by hospital staff so violently her injuries were not survivable. It was mentioned that many women in that hospital were assumed to have been raped and killed while helpless, but not suggested that any measures be taken to discover the culprit.

It appeared some woman on the hospital staff had finally tired of seeing women who 'died of stroke, old age' etc, overnight, but with unexplained blood and bruising between their legs, not present on admission.

Concentrating on children is the way to attract "something must be done", but at 70, a woman raped to death may have been robbed of 30 years of life which matter to her, even if not to anyone in power.

WarriorN · 08/02/2022 21:08

The obfuscation of language through the ideology doesn't help anyone with speech and language difficulties communicate their abuse any easier, either.
