I never even knew EBSWA existed. I do now!

Great letter, but that comment they've put on the end Shock

They might as well have said "we've had to print your letter but we aren't going to read it, and we are definitely not going to take any notice of your concerns".

They have printed similar letters from Sarah Phillimore though in the past which prompted a flurry of letters for a few months afterwards.

It's the 'main' letter on the letters page though so its not been hidden away. I think the comment on the end is a very clumsy attempt by BASW to be 'balanced'.

Maya faced something similar when she secured a right to reply to something obnoxious that Index on Censorship had said in re: their participation in her successful appeal.

iirc, didn't they print her letter/piece next to a cartoon and/or another piece that undercut it?

EmbarrassingHadrosaurus · 03/02/2022 15:19

I've found the piece. Maya asked for a withdrawal of the original piece, was refused, had a right to reply and then had it printed with this cartoon commentary.

That's a very good letter and very restrained, given the circumstances.
