Hi all,

I'm sure some of you are aware that a few years ago the Gender Equalities Office was tasked with investigating the steep rise in girls being referred for gender reassignment (over 4,500% in about a decade), does anyone know anything about what became of that inquiry?

(Link: www.thetimes.co.uk/article/inquiry-into-surge-in-gender-treatment-ordered-by-penny-mordaunt-b2ftz9hfn)

I'm researching gender dysphoria in girls and I'd love to know if the govt have got anywhere with it. I've emailed the GEO and Penny Mordaunt (who ordered the inquiry) but haven't heard anything back.

If you know anything, please can you share!?

Many thanks!

UPDATE:
I recieved a reply from Penny Mordaunt who commissioned the inquiry saying merely this:

"Thank you for your enquiry. I understand it was cancelled by my successor. Sorry not to be able to help more"

How disappointing!

As a parent of one of these girls on testosterone seeking a mastectomy, I am completely over the idea that "we don't know why this trend is happening". We absolutely do. There are a number of contributing factors, but social media and social contagion is #1, as is neatly presented in this fabulous short film. Please share this widely, we parents need the message to get out there. And keep your kids of social media completely until they are old enough to vote (and pornography). It is wreaking terrible havoc on our kids' mental health and sense of self.

That video. Seeing what is being done to these young people. I mean you hear of it. somehwere in my head it was more like a piercing than a c-section. But the reality. It's more like the c-section. oh no.

I'm happy the movement itself is moving away from surgical intervention as a whole. It's almost like an entire generation was being used as lab rats.

And that last statement about needing to know what is real, it reminded me of a parenting thread I used to lurk on. Something about holding on to the end of the rope, tethering or grounding your teenagers while they played tug of war with you. Someone said it was hardwork but your children are relying on you to know where the other end of the rope is. Relying on you to know that someone has got them and they will not float away. Someone is locked to the ground and they can trust that person to hold on while they battle the entire universe.

Something along those lines anyway. I just never expected it to be something of this magnitude that parents would have to face en masse.

And schools.

Direct quote from the Year Head who supported our daughter’s social transition firstly behind our backs and then against clinical advice:

“We just saw a young person who had had many issues in the past and we thought this may have been an answer.”

The “many issues” were extreme persistent bullying which was mishandled by the school and then that’s their reaction the instant she said she thought sh was trans?

Bastards

*quote in writing, I should add which appeared in a SAR response from the school.
