TRAs can't get their stories straight

Just a quick one but I was watching an interview on GB news with Kelly jay and Sam Dowler, at the beginning the interviewer asks Sam Dowler who are people who menstruate? And Sam replies 'people who menstruate? Well they are women' .. surely by TRAs own logic, that is extremely transphobic because what about trans men who menstruate!? They just go round and round in circles, I don't understand how they don't see their own hypocrisy and how illogical they are

I watched that. Stupid man. And all he said after that was “I don’t understand why a woman has an opinion. She simply shouldn’t be allowed”, essentially.

Or maybe "TRAs" just aren't a hive mind and sometimes have different opinions from one another. Do all GC people agree on everything all the time?

Was was Sam Dowler wrong to say that then?

Who are people who menstruate then? Is there a word we can use for them?

It's one thing having a different opinion. It's quite another espousing an ideology which makes no logical sense - especially if you are pushing for that ideology to be recognised in law.

This x100

It’s truly baffling. They can’t define what a woman is without either using circular arguments or regressive stereotypes.

ha ha ha ha ha ha

I refer you to www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/4459100-Matt-Walsh-asks-trans-activist-what-is-a-woman

Now transactivists are allowed to disagree with each other on various topics, but we can still berate women for agreeing with people on some topics but not on others.

I'm scrambling to follow the rules here Confused

What an appropriately nuanced comment.

brb, just checking the skies around me for comets and other unexpected phenomena.

That does seem to be the position

Jux · 22/01/2022 01:00

It's one of the fundamental rules of their ideology, so if you espouse that ideology you should get it right. It's interesting as it indicates that Dowler is not of their Church. I don't know who he is, btw.

Sure, TRAs can disagree on what the best ice cream flavour is or whether we should defund the police, but this is the very foundation of their TWAW argument. If they don’t believe that then they aren’t “allies”.

Similarly, if a GC person believed men can menstruate then they aren’t GC.

It’s not about a hive mind. It’s about the fundamental beliefs of their movement.

In other words, TRAs can't agree on what a woman is.

Marvellous.

It's perfectly normal for different people to have different and conflicting positions. It's quite another for a single person to contradict themselves within the same interview because their own position makes so little sense that they can't articulate it without tying themselves in knots. And tbh, this is at the core of the conflict. None of it makes any sense. We'll be lectured in one breath about not reducing women to their bodies and then called vagina-owners in the next. Then they'll agree that gender is a social construct, then insist that gender identity is some nebulous indefinable thing you're born with. Pretty much every position taken by TRAs is contradictory on their own terms. It's why #nodebate is so strongly laid down. None of it stands up to the slightest scrutiny.
TheMarzipanDildo · 22/01/2022 09:53

This is the equivalent of saying “I’m a Christian but I don’t agree with all that Jesus malarkey”, Blueberry.

Although I think he probably just got confused because the logical inconsistencies are hard to keep up with.

Interesting how you put TRAs in inverted commas but not GC

Given that they normally sound like they're reading from the same script of meaningless tropes, that was a large slip.

I'm not surprised some want to minimise it as a singular 'different of opinion' but we didn't arrive on the planet yesterday.

This is why they avoid television appearances. They're always incoherent and garbled.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 24/01/2022 12:44

As Judge Judy is wont to say - if you tell the truth you don't have to have a good memory.

Being of a TWAW persuasion means having to lie to yourself all the time. You know one thing but want to believe another. It's not really surprising they never make sense whne trying to explain their beliefs and occasionally slip up. Just as Bloobs has a few time across many threads!

ifIwerenotanandroid · 27/01/2022 16:12

Another JJ quote I often think of is, "What you're saying doesn't make sense to me. And when something doesn't make sense, it's usually because IT. IS. NOT. TRUE. You get what I'm saying?"
