Well the SNP's Consular Affairs Spokesperson says the school sex survey is all right because she was asked these questions when she was at school.

Cue- almost universal bafflement in the btl crowd as to "where", "when", "why" and "who by" and last, but not least, why does the SNP have a Consular Affairs Spokesperson?

I think this might be an example of an " alternative fact" like the size of. Trump's inauguration crowd.

Galvantula · 19/01/2022 23:24

I've heard quite a few defenders of this on Twitter...I mean really? 🙄

Obviously not a single one of them were at school in the nineties in Scotland. Not a single PSE class would ever have discussed anal sex .

This is about Hannah Bardell MP.

She was on the radio coming out with this guff. She's typical of these people who get carried away with their earnest zealotry at the expense of good judgement and respect for young people whom they would trample into the dust in order to get their misguided way.

There's a class of people now who have nothing better to do than target youngsters with their adult preoccupations and impositions. And they're everywhere. There's no space and no escape for young people from the constant barrage.

Agree. You just need to look at their keenness on face coverings in school. Their report into why they were needed included to encourage their use by others in the community.

Consular Affairs Spokesperson ah, that must be the person who tells us about affairs conducted with Consul staff.

Goatsaregreat · 20/01/2022 13:00

All these adults obsessed with speaking to young children about anal sex really need their hard drives examined.

CompleteGinasaur · 20/01/2022 13:20

Did she detail her original response as well as an up to date one when the question was batted back over the net recently?

At 14 she was asked how often she had anal sex without being offered professional support for any trauma arising from said questions?

AbandonedCharacter · 20/01/2022 14:00

As someone who has worked in education since 1990, I seriously doubt her claims.

TheYellowOne · 20/01/2022 14:14

I was at school in Scotland in the 80s and 90s, I have no recollection of it

Mrsfrumble · 20/01/2022 14:19

TBF, I was asked similar questions at school, but it was by an annoying fellow 15yo named Nigel who also spent most of our physics lessons trying to undo my bra, so I don’t think it counts.

It’s like Jameela Jamil and her “all the girls at school were on puberty blockers” claim, isn’t it?

334bu · 20/01/2022 14:19

To help out I stupidly volunteered to teach PSE for one year only to Senior pupils in the late nineties/ twenties. and , as no good deed ever goes unpunished, ended up doing it for the rest of the time I was in that school. I can assure you that anal sex never came up.

NitroNine · 20/01/2022 14:24

Is she maybe confused about the difference between [somewhat concerning] conversations between peers at school & conversations in the classroom setting led by a teacher or outside instructor? Hmm

Bags I not the one to make the flashcards explaining that a lad yelling across the playground at you asking if you take it up the bum is not the same is the SRE syllabus including anal sex nor a [spectacularly ill thought-out] survey including questions on the same.

That was my first thought too
Georgeskitchen · 20/01/2022 17:24

If my 14 year old child was being asked these questions I would be getting the police involved. How dare they?

Anotherhill · 20/01/2022 17:25

Even on here on the Boris thread people are making out that it’s no big deal.

Nixbox · 22/01/2022 00:21

@334bu I was at school in Scotland in the 90s. Anal sex was mentioned (not sure they used those actual words) once that I remember - we were told that men having sex with men were at higher risk of HIV and that they should use stronger condoms.
Nobody was asked any questions in any sex ed classes, about anything.

Well I remember the bad lads at high school having a ‘joke’ where they would ask one of the shy lads if he’d ‘ever had a sweaty fanny around his neck’ to see how red he would blush.

It wasn’t school policy though…

ArabellaScott · 22/01/2022 11:27

It might be by now, Kitten.
