Got a work email from a CEO of a health organisation and she had
"name"
"CEO (any pronoun)"

at the end of it. Am feeling very cheered by this.

@BlueberryCheezecake

Sorry to break it to you, but many trans/non-binary people use any pronouns so if you're imagining this means they endorse your anti-trans views, you're likely mistaken.
Putting aside the fact that no one here is 'anti-trans' but rather pro-women, we are allowed to centre ourselves in our own liberation movement, what on earth have the pronoun brigade got to do with the protected characteristic of trans which was meant to (and indeed does) cover about 5000 people with a GRC and a few more who are genuinely on the gender reassignment pathway? Your mission creep is not welcomed by anyone.

Increasingly, you can't sign up for healthcare related training without declaring your pronouns. They're mandatory and you can't get the CPD/whatever without them.

It moved from personal choice to optional to compelled very quickly.

I like "any pronoun", to me it reads that the CEO is saying, it's up to you, the person speaking to me. Which for me is the point really, pronouns belong to the person speaking or writing - they are part of their language

That is not on, @BlueberryCheezecake.

I don't have anti-trans views. To accuse me of this is not acceptable.

You tend to post reactionary comments. Are you perhaps muddling me up with someone on Reddit?

Blueberry, sweetie, you sound like you need a drink and a sit down. All this screeching must be raising your blood pressure. Chamomile tea is excellent for relaxing the nerves.

You are absolutely right, of course, but I don't thing that including "any pronouns" supports that view. The drive to declare pronouns is part of the attempt to replace sex as the way in which we categorise people with gender identity. If declaring pronouns was a choice people were making to avoid being missexed (perhaps because it is an uncommon name or a unisex name) or to let other people know that they would prefer that people regard them/use pronouns that are opposite to the sex that they are, then I might feel differently, but this phenomenon is not occuring in that environment.

I for one am not bothered about whether this is a TRA or GC thing. What is shows is that they are not willing to police other peoples language in an authoritarian manner, which is all that matters here.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 20/01/2022 13:33

My take on it was "my employers insist on this pronoun stuff. Personally, IDGAF"

Actually, maybe I'll put "my pronouns are IDGAF/DFOD" on mine.
