Donating to help Afghanistan, best charity ?

After the scandals of various charity workers in disaster zones exploiting women and children , I don’t know the most reliable charity to donate to ? In disasters I normally donate to Medicine Sans Frontiers, does anyone know who would be best to donate to now, to help the most vulnerable in Afghanistan ?

I donated to Baroness Kennedy's campaign, which is ongong resettling women from Afghanistan at risk from the Taliban:

And also UNHCR are good for refugee camps, and/or DEC, if you'd like to help those at risk of exposure and malnutrition.

Kennedy's campaign is Support Afghan judges, lawyers, women's activists at go fund me.

I donate to Women for Women International. They've been actively working with women in in Afghanistan for years.

I did think of the DEC but all the big charities are part of that .
I do want my money to go to help those in most need, which inevitably will be women and children.

Yes, SirVix, I appreciate some have issues with some of the charities DEC work with. It's hard to get good info, too.

I tend to hope that when its emergency responses some of the problems are less prevalent, but could easily be wishful thinking on my part.

The Amar Foundation is another one that supports Afghan women.

The Linda Norgrove Foundation is a small charity doing good work for Afghan women. They are based on the Isle of Lewis and were set up by the parents of Linda Norgrove, an aid worker worker who was killed in Afghanistan

Baroness Nicholson's Amar Foundation

Will split the donation between a couple of these, thank you all for the suggestions.

I know you're looking to help people still in Afghanistan, but I always recommend the author Onjali Rauf's (The Boy at the Back of the Class) O's Refugee Aid Team. She is wonderful:

Reposting as my previous post contained links to fundraisers, I didn’t realise they are not be allowed on Mumsnet.

Emergency is an amazing NGO that provides healthcare.

Learn Afghanistan is a local non profit that provides education for girls, healthcare funds for infants and mothers among many other things. The founder Pashtana Durrani is a remarkable young woman. Here is her Twitter feed if you want to find out more and the link to donate is in her bio.

Charmaghz is another brilliant local non profit that runs mobile libraries for children in Kabul.

I went to look at Amar and possibly donate, but the link is for Virgin, which doesn't so charity donations any longer.

Does anyone know their bank details or if they have PayPal?

violetgrey · 30/12/2021 11:58

Amar switched to a new donation platform in November. It’s called Total Giving. The link is on the Amar homepage.

This will be my next donation.

Thank you @violetgrey - I've just punted them some ££.

I keep thinking of that poor baby girl in Afghanistan who was sold because her parents didn’t have enough money to buy food. She’s staying with her parents until she’s old enough to walk, then she’ll be taken away.

Where could I donate to help stop this from happening?
