Well no, "Trans woman Claire Goodier - who was previously known as John and convicted of child abuse images as a man in the past - admitted the offence in an earlier hearing.

Goodier, 60, was described as 'manipulative' and 'deceitful' by a probation officer at the Chester Crown Court sentencing today."

It's obviously a man. My 91yo DGM is almost blind and reads the local paper and Guardian on her ipad - regularly mixing up various politicians and world leaders but she could see this was a man instantly. I sent her the Mail article and she was in stitches and had to face time me to discuss it. That was fun on the train! Deary me. Who thinks that's a woman? No one, not John, not the police and certainly not the poor dog. We all know, everyone knows. It's insane.

For the first time in a long time I am glad of the report in the Daily Fail.
At least they called a spade a spade and were not afraid to refer to that person as a paedophile and pervert.

The pervert was listed under a male name but with a note added to be addressed in the hearing as Claire.

@nauticant I was interested so just looked this up. From what I can see DM is owned by DMG Media and I can't see them on IPSOs member list. If they're not members they don't have to heed the ridiculous guidelines and that would explain why they're able to report honestly. Please correct me if I'm wrong!

The Mail story is interesting. There have been some major editorial changes at the paper recently. Up to now they have followed the IPSO guidance which is to refer to trans people using their preferred identity, but this shows a definite break with that. I think they're getting braver.

I care. This is not a crime committed by a female yet it will be recorded as such. This has knock on effects to crime statistics and, ultimately, safeguarding measures. I fucking care.
