I was sent this link by my 91yo DGM with the above comment.

Utterly repulsive. Would this be recorded as a female crime?

I'm optimistic that 'monitors' will note the relevant section of the talk guidelines I c&p'd upthread and realise that reporting anyone for 'misgendering' a man convicted of egregious sex crimes, some of which were before he adopted a TW identity, might be viewed as vexatious.

I'll post them again, for clarity.

What about, for example, Karen White – is it ok to say he is a man and call him 'he'?
We think we've allowed for flexibility and context here; we’re unlikely to delete where an individual is primarily known for extreme or criminal actions undertaken before they transitioned.

nauticant · 23/12/2021 11:28

There's now an attempt to get a discussion going on about this in AIBU:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/4433927-AIBU-to-be-horrified-TW-sex-crimes

Will that be allowed to continue?

It has been evidenced on the other thread that Goodier was actually charged with this crime as a man.

Donning a wig & calling himself Claire has happened since October.

I'm shocked. Shocked, I tell you.
Aromatica · 23/12/2021 12:24

Yes, all previous reporting was "he" .

I was trying to do a poll over on AIBU as want to see what the AIBU crowd think. They're pretty straight talking bunch.

But the poll option doesn't come up for me .

Gone. Maybe it's in transit heading over here.

ErrolTheDragon · 23/12/2021 12:50

It's still there on AIBU, just with a slightly clearer title.

FFS, I wanted in AIBU because I wanted to know whether general regular MN users thought I was being unreasonable and get a poll going.

I can talk about crime stats with feminists at home and with my mates. I'm fuming that it's been deleted.

You're all great here but I didn't really want to discuss this with you. 😃

What kind of person would want to cover up and hide in a corner a discussion of a paedophile mostly by mothers? Don't answer that, an sure would also be deleted.

I'm fuming.

Aromatica · 23/12/2021 12:58

It's gone completely for me.

They did my requested title change and then it got vapiurised.

Maybe same issue as me being unable to make a poll. Grrrrrr

nauticant · 23/12/2021 13:01

WeeBisom · 23/12/2021 13:05

On the topic of whether women commit this crime, I couldn’t find stats for bestiality but I do have stats for convictions under the extreme pornography act 2009 of which bestiality is the most common reason for a charge. Out of 591 convictions 97 percent were men. It’s not possible to say if the three percent of women were female because this data isn’t available. In fact I remember looking this up and finding a story about at least one trans woman prosecuted under this act (for bestiality porn as well). Anyway, it’s a very male gendered crime. Very unusual for prosecutions to be brought against a woman.

I remember reading Noake’s interview the other day where she moaned about women constantly talking about the crimes trans women do rather than just being nice to the poor dears. I think what she underestimates is women’s anger at men being recoded as women for prototypical male crimes. And also our anger at being hoodwinked by the lie that trans women are just like us psychologically, that they are feminine souls trapped in male bodies. Because if that were true we would expect the pattern of trans women offending to be similar to female offending : petty offences , drugs, benefit fraud etc. Instead we are expected to swallow that they are women who also happen to have exceptionally male offending habits, and who commit sex crimes which are almost unheard of in the female population. Are we not allowed to be pissed off at this?

FrancescaContini · 23/12/2021 13:08

@Cheshirewife

Who cares what it’s recorded as? Main thing is that she’s locked away in jail!
Erm, I care. Very much.

These terrible crimes were not committed by a woman.

AlfonsoTheUnrepentant · 23/12/2021 13:09

Are we not allowed to be pissed off at this?

No, because it hurts the feelings of people with pink ladybrains.

viques · 23/12/2021 13:18

I hope the “listed under a male name” means that they haven’t bothered to get a GRC which I hope means they will be heading for a male estate prison. Of course, now it seems as though self ID will be on the cards any future dog fucking sex abuser will be allowed to choose where they are incarcerated. Vulnerable women or mean men? Hmmmm.

ErrolTheDragon · 23/12/2021 13:19

Well, yes, we can be pissed off by this.

I reckon I'd be pissed off if I was a transwoman or transman too. This sort of man declaring himself to be a woman does their cause nothing but harm. Does anyone seriously think he has suddenly acquired a 'female identity'? His crimes suggest he's driven by taboo breaking in some way, I'd have thought.

But the problem for trans people is that this sort of man blows the idea of self identification out of the water - or should do so.

Cui bono? Who does it serve?

I saw this in the sun and read it and from the picture immediately identified the person as a male. Upon googling found out this is a man who identifies as a woman. Surprising article in the DM. This is scary though when the media are reporting on a criminal who “feels” they are something which to me is inaccurate reporting. One of my child when young identified as a dog, barked and acted like a dog. They were and never could be a dog. What I find interesting is, again this is because of how men feel. Men’s entitlement and disturbing agenda.

SirSamuelVimes · 23/12/2021 13:28

I think I got deleted for pondering if posters on the chat thread would get strikes for breaking talk guidelines?

Is asking about the guidelines against the guidelines?!?

AlfonsoTheUnrepentant · 23/12/2021 13:32

Is asking about the guidelines against the guidelines?!?

Yes, as is criticising moderation.

SirSamuelVimes · 23/12/2021 13:43

Oh, really? It wasn't a criticism though, it was an actual question as to whether posters who are new to the whole debacle are given a strike when they wouldn't have any reason to know the rules, as they weren't posting in FWR and so wouldn't see the guidelines.

I don't see that as being critical but hey ho, not much I can do about it if it is seen as such by MNHQ.

Signalbox · 23/12/2021 13:43

I wonder why these incidents never involve trans men. It's a real mystery.

I agree! I am on your side. My post was sardonic; what I meant was that we are not supposed to question, challenge or otherwise disagree with MN moderating.

I apologise for the misunderstanding, which was my fault.

SirSamuelVimes · 23/12/2021 14:03

I apologise for the misunderstanding, which was my fault

No, it was my fault! I was being a bit slow.

RoyalCorgi · 23/12/2021 14:47

Of course it matters. Truth matters. Facts matter.

If this crime had been committed by a white man, who decided to identify as black, and the statistics then recorded it as a crime committed by a black man, I imagine there'd be a lot of public anger. For some reason women are supposed to just suck it up.
