If true, this is good news. She is the lawyer who wrote the report for the University of Essex that suggested that Stonewall's interpretation of the law might be...well...

She sounds like an excellent choice.

Just read about this in the Mail online. All comments under article very positive.

Excellent news if true!

Good. Another small step in reversing the march of the anti women brigade.

I read her report on essex at the time and thought it was v sensible and clear. I don't know how the ehrc works, but I read she is going to be a commissioner, which I guess is the board. Anyone know how many commissioners there are? It really suggests a change. Its great news. And, I didn't know she was a part time judge!

There are many really impressive women involved in this fight.

EmbarrassingHadrosaurus · 19/12/2021 21:27

Fine choice as she has an extensive history of demonstrating her rational mind, expertise, and experience within an ethical framework.

ChakaFridaMendips · 19/12/2021 22:24

This needs to happen!

I'm really feeling heartened by this. Baroness Falkner set the tone of change when she stepped in and clarified protection of belief of GC views in Maya's case.
David Isaac has the cheek to call appointments of those who defend all protected characteristics as political..... wtf

ScreamingMeMe · 20/12/2021 07:30

Awww and TRAs were saying she didn't know what she was talking about, and her advice to Essex University didn't mean anything....

That's very good news indeed. Akua Reindorf is an excellent addition to their board.

"An independent report published by Essex University concluded that Stonewall’s advice was misleading and potentially illegal by misrepresenting the Equality Act 2010 to suggest the legislation included “gender identity”

...“This policy is founded on an erroneous understanding of the law,” said Reindorf. “In my view the policy states the law as Stonewall would prefer it to be, rather than the law as it is. To that extent the policy is misleading.”

While I can understand that an organisation like the University of Essex might be seduced by Stonewall rhetoric, the bit that I still don't exactly get is how organisations like EHRC, ACAS, MoJ etc whose job and raison d'etre it is to understand and interpret the law correctly, got it so very, very wrong.

Appointment of clear-thinking board members is essential but how do they untangle the mess and stop this happening again?

Brilliant news!

I'm so delighted by her appointment! Wonderful news for women. I have high hopes for 2022 now.
