I seem to recall they were subject of some dispute

Yes I stopped too. Although their apology wasn't quite as much as a non-apology as most if I recall, but suing the other company was a bad look so on the whole I do swerve them for this behaviour.

Wouldn't touch Innocent with a barge pole though.

KittenKong · 19/11/2021 08:17

There are quite a few brands I swerve these days. I guess thems the risks when you choose to play politics to sell flipping soap or milk...

BadPlaceJanet · 19/11/2021 08:29

Hmm trying to remember the brand, but there was an oat milk that dh said was GREAT in coffee, and he's a real milk diehard who used to roll his eyes at plant milks. He only tried it as we'd run out of milk and had a freebie carton of this from Waitrose. He even asked me to get it again. Will post again if I can remember it, it definitely wasn't Oatly.

You've intrigued me now. Can you remember what colour the packaging was?

I "cancelled" them too after their behaviour.
Don't bite the hand that feeds you, retailers.

highame · 19/11/2021 09:03

It certainly seems to be a less popular product because my local supermarket has had the stuff on offer and it's still not shifting. I wonder when the retail world will come to its senses and grasp that fact that women are the spenders.

I am excited because we seem to be making a bit of a difference in all sorts of areas. So I hope some of that 20% is us

WomenTalkingAboutARevolution · 19/11/2021 09:04

I also stopped buying their oat milk after that ad. My list of brands that aren’t women friendly is long, one going out of business would make it easier to keep track of my list when shopping Grin

AnotherMansCause · 19/11/2021 12:24

I went vegan a while ago. I don't buy Oatly on principle (and I can't have soy). Other oat milk brands can have my business. I have a boycott list that goes back a very long time & I stick to it.

KittenKong · 19/11/2021 12:39

Make your own! It’s dead easy!

BadPlaceJanet · 22/12/2021 09:39

Sorry, very late reply - was just scrolling through Threads I'm On and saw this. I think it's this one: www.waitrose.com/ecom/products/califia-farms-oat-barista-blend-no-added-sugar/877310-729830-729831

Fupoffyagrasshole · 22/12/2021 09:42

But it makes the best hot chocolate 🤷‍♀️

EishetChayil · 22/12/2021 09:49

I would sooner drink my own piss than Oatly.

Can confirm this is good! Moma also do a good barista oat.

I've always been veggie, and more recently vegan on and off. It's really common in my friends and family. Oatly are dicks if they think people over 30 aren't buying oat milk.

serendipitea · 22/12/2021 09:59

I like Jörd oat milk. And they are distributed by Arla, who I recall have been supported of MN?

serendipitea · 22/12/2021 10:00

(supportive not supported)

namechange9357 · 22/12/2021 12:50

I also dumped Oatly after this tone-deaf campaign and discovered the joys of home deliveries from Milk and More - for emergency top ups I buy Minor Figures barista, a UK company and allegedly carbon neutral.

SuperbOwls · 22/12/2021 13:02

All the above, plus taking on some dodgy investors. It seems oatly are really great at self-destruction.

WhatMattersMost · 22/12/2021 13:07

Moma is superb. And it is "barista".

Artichokeleaves · 22/12/2021 13:13

Yup. Stopped buying from them when they decided the inferiority of women was a political position they wanted to push at me along with their product.

Kotatsu · 22/12/2021 13:20

Yep, I stopped buying oatly barista too.

I suffer cows milk in my coffee (luckily not very often, and it's normally OK as long as I've foamed it for some reason), and actively enjoy Aldi Almond in my shakes, and Aldi oat when I want a cold glass of milk instead.

Ex used to buy me Lush bath bombs for Christmas because he's a lazy sod, but that's not exactly an issue any more, and you can buy shampoo bars everywhere now, so I don't feel that I'm missing out at all.
