Seriously, going behind the backs of ministers is not a good look...

Interesting...a new name to watch out for.

Who is Henry Newman and what exactly is your agenda?

FindTheTruth · 09/11/2021 05:15

A Whitehall source said: “It shows there are a number of officials at FCDO who consider themselves fundamentally unaccountable to ministers.”

Another said: “For FCDO officials to covertly sign off taxpayer funds subsidising a controversial lobby group mired in constant rows is negligent at best and, at worst, conniving.”

FindTheTruth · 09/11/2021 05:17

Sick of men like Newman claiming that Stonewall is the LGBT community. It's a lie.

FindTheTruth · 09/11/2021 05:55

so the Foreign Office can't get out of paying SW money because of the contract BUT THEY CAN CHOOSE NOT TO PARTICIPATE in the scheme. Get Stonewall out of the Foreign Office now. just stop it.

Rightsraptor · 09/11/2021 06:51

They only signed up to the scheme in July. If I were Liz Truss, heads would roll. (Mods - metaphor, not a threat of violence).

Indeed. And can still justify that on value-for-money-grounds.

Paying Stonewall money for no training is clearly better value-for-money than actually receiving the training. Grin

Indeed. And can still justify that on value-for-money-grounds.

There is a cost of paying employees to sit into training E.g. Uk's "average wage" of 30k it costs about £16 per hour.
Spending that on a cancelled project is not value for money.

It isn't just the FCO where the civil servants have run amok, it's the capture in the higher echelons of all civil servants and for years. Women did not give their consent and this capture is an infringement of my democratic rights.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 09/11/2021 09:57

Stonewall said: “As with all membership programmes, organisations come and go from our Diversity Champions programme depending on what’s best for their inclusion journey at the time.
We’re proud to work with a growing number of employers to help them build inclusive workplace environments where LGBTQ+ employees feel respected and valued.”

They trot out this copy and paste statement every time.

OldCrone · 09/11/2021 10:13

No mention in that article that the FCO gave Stonewall £145,000 in 2019 and similar amounts in previous years.
