The Government Equalities Office have published the expected consulation and also documents for the consultation on Conversion Therapy.
The consultation is here: www.gov.uk/government/consultations/banning-conversion-therapy
Deadline Dec 10th.
In case you're not aware, the suspicion was that although this would contain some very welcome new laws against actual conversion therapy, that it would also be used as a trojan horse to get gender identity on the statute books and to ban talking therapies that don't instantly affirm trans identities, even for children. This would be an appallingly dangerous development.
The Times published an article today that confused the issue, suggesting that the bill may also ban orgs like Mermaids that seek to encourage children to be trans. But it wasn't a very clear article! Thread here
As well as the consultation, the research reports published today are
- The prevalence of conversion therapy in the UK
- Conversion therapy: an evidence assessment and qualitative study
- An assessment of the evidence on conversion therapy for sexual orientation and gender identity
You can read them here:

I don't have time to read them now, but bookmarking for later and I'd be very interested to hear what women here make of them.
