Anti Kathleen Stock campaign - tips

ArabellaScott · 26/10/2021 09:31

The group set up specifically to harass Kathleen Stock has some tips for anyone who may find the hounding and targeting of a woman stressful and overwhelming:

'We recommend travelling to and from the protest in groups, this makes sure that police and security are less likely to harass you, or that if they do you will not be alone, and alsO ensures that you will have people to emotionally Support you if at any point you become stressed or Overwhelmed.'

'www.instagram.com/p/CVDyrRRgN1v/'

This advice appears to be aimed at the group being incited to harass Professor Stock, rather than the victim/target or any other women identified as 'terfs'. Odd, that. One might think that being targeted by balaclava-wearing anonymous groups of males might be 'stressful and overwhelming' for women, but I suppose we don't count as humans worthy of respect or consideration.

Well, I tried to buy Material Girls today. Sold out in all book shops in Central London- according to the staff member in Hatchard‘s. Now being reprinted so I’ll wait.

ArabellaScott · 26/10/2021 19:55

Wow. Stock is out of stock on Amazon uk, too.

In stock on November 18, 2021, apparently.

  • obviously not suggesting anyone use the Evil Empire, btw. Amazon has a fantastic built in bookselling barometer and catalogue.

Redyellowblue34 · 26/10/2021 20:01

Yep. Bought the book. Need to do something more active now though.

Redyellowblue34 · 26/10/2021 20:02

And have read it. Made sense to me as a parent to a potentially trans child.

DdraigGoch · 26/10/2021 20:17

@MishyJDI

Kathleen has a right to her views. She also has a right to be challenged on them. As do we all. Especially if those views seek to exclude others.
I would like to charitably believe that you are actually dense enough to believe the things that you post. But no, I can't. No one can be stupid enough to believe that wearing balaclavas and issuing death and rape threats is fair criticism of a theory or viewpoint.

.... and actually thinks excluding people is always a bad thing.

Women's rights and same sex spaces are basically about excluding people. People with penises. That's pretty much their whole purpose. 🤷🏻‍♀️.

Why do some people with a penis find this such a difficult concept to grasp.

Even the suffragettes themselves didn't go around showing pornographic photos of their genitals to use in order to threaten sexual violence at people who were opposed to women's rights, resort to physical assaults on those less able than themselves, silence an entire demographic worthy of protection in law. Women aren't doing it now.
TRA on the other hand.....

Queenoftheashes · 26/10/2021 20:49

Wtf is Instagram playing at leaving that account up

prudencepuffin · 26/10/2021 20:58

Worth checking your local library if sold out in other places. Ours definitely has copies.

DarkDarkNight · 26/10/2021 21:11

That account is really sinister. I’ve reported the account and some posts not that it will make a difference but every little helps.

Isthatthebestyoucando · 26/10/2021 21:47

Oh WOW. Third page last sentence, police are known to be institutionally hateful towards LGBTQIAGP+++++
Fuck me if it's hateful for the police to throw all of their integrity away to show unwavering support of a bullying movement and be used as a tool to punish anyone who disagrees with said movement and look foolish clad in rainbow shite and make normal people thinking normal thoughts into a hate crime, if these people don't agree with normal persons thoughts and create a completely authoritarian society to prioritise the wants of this group above everyone elses rights and safety and make crime data meaningless, then what the hell would it look like if they showed favour to this community?

FindTheTruth · 27/10/2021 08:26

looks like it's been taken down. OP did you capture who these people were?

SnoopyLights · 27/10/2021 08:35

@ArabellaScott

Do you think, Tanith? To me, this looks like terrorism.
If you've ever taken part in Prevent training, it's frightening how much you can recognise TRA's and the way all this is playing out.
Isthatthebestyoucando · 27/10/2021 08:57

I can still see it.

ArabellaScott · 27/10/2021 09:18

The account is still there.

Snoopy, I have no idea about Prevent. Has anyone reported this account (or either of the other two set up to target Kathleen Stock) to them? Are the police involved? Does anyone know?

OP posts:
ArabellaScott · 27/10/2021 09:19

Find, the account is set up by brave anonymous people in balaclavas, who are bravely harassing a woman from behind their disguises, but you can see who follows the account, that's all public.

Instant apologism, it's like magic.

Her 'right to be challenged' as you so nicely put it, translates as you very well know into 'it's right that people abuse her and resort to this truly vile, abhorrent behaviour'.

No, it's not right. Anyone who condones this behaviour must take responsibility for it. It's wholly unacceptable, it represents boundaries and morals that are beyond messed up, and I agree, it should now be considered a form of terrorism.

Let's recap on some nursery manners shall we? How ever cross someone may make you here are the limits of acceptable behaviour and there will be consequences for crossing them .

ArabellaScott · 27/10/2021 10:05

'Under the Terrorism Act 2000, the Home Secretary may proscribe an organisation if she believes it is concerned in terrorism, and it is proportionate to do. For the purposes of the Act, this means that the organisation:
• commits or participates in acts of terrorism;
• prepares for terrorism;
• promotes or encourages terrorism (including the unlawful glorification of terrorism); or
• is otherwise concerned in terrorism.

“Terrorism” as defined in the Act, means the use or threat which: involves serious violence against a person; involves serious damage to property; endangers a person’s life (other than that of the person committing the act); creates a serious risk to the health or safety of the public or section of the public; or is designed seriously to interfere with or seriously to disrupt an electronic system. The use or threat of such action must be designed to influence the government or an international governmental organisation or to intimidate the public or a section of the public and be undertaken for the purpose of advancing a political, religious, racial or ideological cause.

The Government’s ‘Prevent’ strategy addresses all forms of terrorism, including that which is inspired by far left extremism. Preventing terrorism involves challenging extremist (and non-violent) ideas which are part of terrorist ideology.'

I don't know what Sussex Uni are playing - they need to properly speak up, and protect her, so she can go back to work on campus. She has huge support from other staff, but many are too afraid to speak out in case they become targets themselves, privately the are telling the chancellor that they support her right to freedom of speech and critical thought.

Maerchentante · 28/10/2021 09:59

I wonder why Instagram are not taking this account down, it clearly is harassment. Lost count how many times I have reported it.

In other news: Blackwell's have Material Girls on stock, so ordered a copy. Should arrive early next week.

Clymene · 28/10/2021 16:21

Stock is not returning to Sussex.

twitter.com/docstockk/status/1453737720316981249?s=21

They have bullied her out.

Helleofabore · 28/10/2021 16:30

That is very sad news Clymene.

ArabellaScott · 28/10/2021 16:52

Kathleen, I don't know if you read this board, but Flowers.

You have my heartfelt sympathy.

OP posts:
Mollyollydolly · 28/10/2021 16:54

The vile bullies will be celebrating. I hope she gets a position at an academic institution that is worthy of her. It's disgusting.
